The future of poker
To all of you poker players out there. (This is mainly adressed to Holdem and Omaha players but everybody can contribute of course.
What do you think about the future of poker? How long do you think it will be possible for players, whether it is live or online Poker, to make a living out of it and why?
I have been a poker player myself for quite a while but allways had this gut feeling that it all could be over in just a few years time.
When I think about online poker, AI is coming to my mind and I doubt humans can defeat Artificial Intelligence for much longer than a few years time from now on if even that. At the same time, the most frequented poker site (which is PokerStars I believe) seriously increases the rake which makes games even harder to beat.
When I think about live poker though, there is still plenty of room it seems. But will this game not die out like Stud, Backgammon or Darts?
Is there maybe something serious going on in crypto to release a new hype of some sort?

The Libratus Poker AI can already beat the pros in heads-up play. However, I haven't seen any research on how AI performs against an entire table of players. While this could complicate making money from online poker, I don't think "live" play is in jeopardy anytime soon.
What do think about the use of smart drugs in live poker? Will this be a game changer in the mid term, so that everybody who is decently skilled and wants to keep an edge at the table needs to do it too at some point?
