Moonrise (Original video)
If you've never seen a moon rise (or moon set) before, you might not know that it turns red, just like the sun does. It's certainly an eerie sight!
I managed to be out at the right time last month to capture one with my Nikon P900, and here's the result...
Been trying to get more footage like this, but the weather here in the UK has been awful just recently!

The red effect is due to the atmosphere acting like a lens, which bends red light in and deflects blue light.

But yeah, when the sun/moon is high, the amount of atmosphere the light has to travel through is thinner than when it's on the horizon. The difference creates a beautiful show.

I wonder sometimes if the Moon were much smaller and say around 3000 miles above the Earth and the Earth was kinda not a sphere at all, if the Moon would appear to set or rise due to perspective and atmospheric lensing and refraction.. Great video, thanks!
If this were the case, the moon and sun would grow and shrink in the sky as they rose and set. The fact that the sun stays the same size at all times of day means the Earth is not flat.
