Merry Christmas!! Cob Living on the Island
Merry Christmas, Steemians!
Christmas is a time to focus on the warmth of our hearts.
Whatever and however we give, this is the core of the reason we all get together.
In that vein, today I wanted to share a very fun and memorable journey that Ini and I took shortly after we met. This is a memory that still keeps my heart warm.
We met when I was on a bike trip riding up the west coast. I decided to cross the border and go to an ecovillage called OUR on Vancouver Island. I felt that magnetic pull that I needed to go to this place. And that is where I met Ini!
He was working as a farm manager there. Our relationship hit it off pretty quickly and we enjoyed playing and working in the gardens, drinking Ini's homemade mead, socializing around the ecovillage, riding our bikes, and journeying around to other areas in the vicinity.
This area in BC is full of little islands and it is so fun to take the ferries around and explore. One weekend, we were offered to stay in one of Pat Hennebery's (the Cob Father) cob houses for a romantic getaway.
Lush and large ferns coupled with that magical carefree feeling of the island make this a weekend I'll never forget.
Pat builds cob houses from a great passion! IT was SUCH A TREAT to stay here.
I think it rained most of the weekend, but that didn't matter! I love the feel of cob houses heated by woodstoves.
ESPECIALLY ONES WITH SNAKES ON THEM :D
And finding apples on the way out! <3
Thanks for going on the journey with me... It's amazing what an impact meeting each other has had on both of our lives. We're both better able to fulfill our lives purposes by synergizing together. A very very warm hearted Christmas to you!
Oh my I have always dreamed of staying somewhere like this. I always watch a program called Ben Fogle who visits people that left there homes to live out in the wilds, and some of those places you couldn't believe ever existed. I was up for this place where you stayed until I read the part about snakes of which I have a terrible phobia about... guess I'll just have to keep dreaming. Thanks for sharing and take care
Haha! Well I'm sure there are some other Cob cottages that don't have a huge snake decorating their fireplace ;) Keep the dream alive ;) and Merry Christmas <3
And a Merry Christmas back at you
I wouldn't mind spending a couple of rainy days in a space like that either. It does look like a magical place and just perfect to build special memories on. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Aunt Deb! Merry Christmas :)
