The Old Evinston Post Office
Now called "The Wood and Swink" general store. It really does have a tiny little-working post office inside the old building. The old store has been the delight of many a customer. Old and young folks enjoy the mysterious finds amongst the treasures. One has only to look closely to find photos of old friends or family members hanging on the walls.

There is a collection of Elvis Presley memorabilia that the Post Master put together after a sighting some years ago! Freddie sells his vegetables in bins spread out on tables in the back of the store. On Wednesday every other week the bookmobile stops by for the afternoon.
One of the highlights of the place are the tails and rumors surrounding the town and it's settlement early in the 1800's. There are a couple of well broken in rocking chairs for sitting around and gossiping. Better known as keeping up with the goings on of the town folk. Not so much social media needed there as most folks tend to gather in person to discuss a hard days work on the farm or tell a good fishing tale or show some pictures of the buck that got away.
Some people have a hard time relating to this kind of interaction, but those that live in Evinston as it is fondly called, prefer a sit down chat rather than an email. It has always been a more reliable source of information and until a few years ago probably a lot faster.
One thing about this little spec on the map is that everyone pitches in to help one another. If times are tough no one gets tossed to the curb. At Thanksgiving the whole town gathers at the park for a big potluck holiday dinner.
It can either be down right hot or freezing cold in the old store because it was built so long ago. On a good day they just open up the door and the breeze flows right through. That's when you're most likely to find someone catching a nap. There is usually a few magazines and the newspaper lying around.
Feel like you want to know more about the old houses and sites there is a walking tour set up for smart phones at each exhibit. Two families started the little place years ago and remain there today. Some leave for a few years, but more often than not make a return trip home for the duration. It is a lovely place on the west side of Orange Lake Florida.
If You want to know more just google to see what you can find.
