A four day weekend for me this holiday so upon arriving home on Friday afternoon I jumped on the mower and took off. There is a little patch covered with leaves needing to be chopped and mulched. No problem got the tires all pumped up, turned it on and away we went.
As luck would have it the sun began to go down about the same time as I hit the leaf patch. This was not my only snafu of the evening nor would it be my last. Rounding the corner happily mowing away the front tire just falls off. Nope never been riding my mower only to have the tire fall completely off. Dazed and confused I just stood there kind of dumbfounded trying to figure out what to make of this situation.
After reluctantly calling partner to come help and getting a pretty good ass chewing, something like when are you going to quit messing with that damned mower and let somebody else do the mowing? I just can’t give up the satisfaction factor of a good mow. You know what I mean? When you can look back and say, that sure does look nice. Well with a little engineering we got the wheel back on, started it back up and out puffs a giant billow of black smoke. Oil leak!
In the meantime, I had managed to wrench my back pretty good, so the whole 4 days now looks like a wash. Sorry, after resting all day Saturday this stubborn old gal had to get outside and do some gardening. It might take me all day, but determination is my middle name. It took me a few hours longer than it normally would have. It was a gorgeous day, and the little project got done. Here are a couple of my before and after shots.
Now after shots.
Not bad for having a rough start this weekend. Hope you had a laugh.
Glad you had a good laugh from my mishap. I felt like a complete dumbass. The whole weekend is not lost as I am accomplishing a few things. Hope you are doing well.
BTW aut-deb uses the cardboard in her garden. She lays it down over the ground to begin the breakdown of organic material then adds her soil on top. It was kind of a running joke we have. She calls her garden the rag tag because she uses whatever she can find to plant her garden in. Your friend from the states. 🐓🐓❤️
Looks goo worth the effort. Sounds quite traumatic, hope it hasn't put you off the mowing. I love drive on mowers, in a past life I worked as a gardening on an estate and use to have a mower wow amazing days haha. Hope the back is better, reiki vibes to you 💯🐒
Nothing beats immediate gratification. It’s one of the only things besides painting that makes me feel like I accomplished something pretty quickly. Lol🐓🐓
Just when we think we have everything handled something crops up. Sorry for your mower trouble but especially for wrenching your back. You did a fantastic job in the garden <3
Yes, in retrospect I have to laugh about the mower. I tend to use them like they can do anything. Usually it works out fine, but the wheel thing was pretty weird. The back will recover with a little rest. I put up a post for your ragtag a few minutes ago.
Do you think @uncle-dan will ever write a post? Maybe I need to look again. 🐓🐓
Just glad the mower episode wasn't more dramatic and your back will mend. Take it easy for a while.
Saw the ragtag post and cracked up. Am also envious of that stash!
@uncle-dan can be very slow on the motivation scale sometimes. He'll eventually figure out what he wants to say and actually do a post. He has vision issues, so reading is work. One day the right topic will come along and he'll take the plunge. Sigh...
Been saving that pile of cardboard for the spring. Glad you got a kick out of it.
uncle-dan will be writing up a storm one day. That is just what happens. Then you will wonder why you encouraged him. Lol🐓🐓
😂😂😂 that's very funny! I can just imagine it.
Your garden is looking lovely!

I feel better since you sent me the vibes. 🐓🐓
Great to hear :). I did a good session last night, glad you felt the vibes. I need to start doing more reiki so very happy to send it your way. 💯🐒
The satisfaction of a well done mowing is beyond words 😍

Thanks for the compliment. I can sure Make a mess of a lawn mower. The back will heal with a little time. Thanks for stopping by. 🐓🐓
My satisfaction in a well-mowed lawn is telling @uncle-dan, "Looks great!" Mowers scare the crap out me. I'd be the one to lop off a finger.
Clean up looks awesome, although, what an ordeal with the mower. Hope your back recovers quickly!
