The Steemit Ibadan Meetup; How it went down!

Happy Ibadan Steemians

The long awaited day for the Steemit Ibadan Meetup dawned and the balls began to roll in various direction. The committee members were at the venue early, arranging, tweaking and perfecting the settings to ensure everything was on point. Phones kept ringing consistently as Steemians began to arrive in Ibadan from Lagos, Ife, Osogbo, Enugu, Portharcourt, Abuja, Kaduna and so on! We had wonderful steemians who came from far and wide to join us in this ground breaking venture like @ewuoso who gave away a lot of free recharge cards, @xpency from Abuja, @nmalove from Kaduna, @mimy, @drigweeu, michaelcj and our very own teenage Steemian @ajremy. It was already obvious that the Meet-up was going to packed full.

The program which included columns for feedback were printed and cut into neat little squares to be distributed to all attendees.

The red carpet area was set and ready for the amazing pictures and videos that would soon be taken. The backdrop, which was designed & produced by our very own @japfive looked so good.

Fast forward to 2pm and the arrival of guests. @stacey31 & @arogboolabisi were stationed at the entrance, welcoming guests with beautiful smiles and lovely greetings as they handed out the program of events.

People registered their presence at the registration desk manned by our cute @jeaniepearl and @ nwamaka and the hall was filled up within the hour.

The two MCs, @mediahousent and @sushie kept everyone engaged and entertained with their fun filled banter and light comedy.

@ejemai and I decided to seize the moment and take some fun pictures outside the venue knowing we would more or less be too engaged to do so after the event.

More fun pictures were taken outside the venue with @ejemai, @adejoke16, @blessbolaji as other guests were photographed and interviewed on the red carpet inside the hall.

And then came the amazing line up of our special guests and presenters!

@samstickkz lighting up the hall as he took us through an in-depth tutorial about what the Blockchain means & what Cryptocurrencies are all about.

@tojukaka, the main organizer, educating us about Steemit as a whole and sharing the novel "Drug & Eba" concept of how Steemit is a vehicle for promoting the adoption of Steem as a Cryptocurrency. He initiated two SBD giveaway contests, making the meetup so much more fun and rewarding for attendees.

@gee1, sharing her knowledge about the "newbieplague" and the importance of starting from the beginning by socializing and making friends before expecting the big bucks. She was all for engaging the audience and called out 3 Steemians to share their early morning experiences.

@ejemai, passionately sharing the vision of STACH and the inbuilt love node on Steemit which brings out the best in Steemians

@thelovejunkie, teaching Etiquette on Steemit from her great wealth of experience as she simultaneously promoted the Air-Clinic.

@gbenga, elegantly and forthrightly teaching us the dos and don'ts of flagging. He also elaborated on the various ways Steemit could be abused as well as how to refrain from such abuse.

@ehiboss, candidly sharing a lot of home-truths about Passwords and Security. He emphasized the need to backup passwords in order to protect our investments on Steemit by all means.

@nairadaddy, opening up our minds about building ideas in Steemit. He shared the history of the origination of Air-Clinic and encouraged Steemians to dream big and think outside the box.

@destinysaid, graciously and eloquently sharing his vast knowledge about Steem Apps and their amazing potential. He enjoined all Steemians to use apps like Dtube, Busy, Utopian.io etc and to check out the different amazing apps on Steemtools.com

@samstickkz, @tojukaka and @fisteganos disseminating very valuable information as they handled the Question and Answer session.

The meetup ended on a very high note with everyone enjoying at least a slice of the pizza (generously donated by @ejemai) and taking many pictures and videos on and off the red carpet. A lovely cake was also donated by the very sweet, very pretty @iroyal.

There were more than 150 attendees and the hall was packed full. All in all, the Steemit Ibadan Meetup was a success and I foresee a geometric uptake of Steem & Steemit by youths in Ibadan as well as an exponential growth in the number of Ib Steemians over the next few months.
