I am experimenting with my first garden. I started off building an above ground bed with a few pots beside it. It has gradually grown over the last few months. Here it was in the beginning-
All I did was buy wide planked wood, 2x4's, and wood screws. I measured the wood, cut it, and then screwed it together like so. 
Then lugged it out into a decently sunny spot on my property that wasn't too far away from the water hose. 
I planted lettuce, spinach, and broccoli. The spinach and lettuce were very successful. The broccoli has not produced much yet.
Since then I added 3 different species of tomato, cucumbers, a kiwi bush, a strawberry bush, and a raspberry bush.
The tomatoes are starting to bloom. I also put a couple of corn stalks in there.
