More Identity Politics

Netflix has for a long time now been full invested in pushing their social justice and political ideology on it's customers, the new live action show of the game The Witcher is just the latest.

A few months ago news came out the Netflix will be making a TV show of The Witcher, similar to that of Daredevil of Iron Fist, something fans have been wanting for years. Not so long ago the they made an announcement the Henry Cavill, who you know as Superman from the DC universe, will be playing playing Geralt of Rivia. The story of Witcher is basically about Geralt, a monster hunter known as a Witcher and is set in a medieval dark ages kind of fantasy world similar to that of Lord of the Rings.

So what has Netflix gone and done, you're probably asking? Well it has to do with one of the main characters in the story, Ciri, the adopted daughter of the main protagonist Geralt. To give you some context the last game The Witcher 3 - The Wild Hunt, she gets kidnapped and Geralt has to find her, the entire story revolved around her. So what now has happened is that Netflix wants to change the race of Ciri to someone who is not white.

According to a recently casting notice, Netflix’s is looking for “a 16 or 15 year old BAME (black, Asian, minority ethnic) girl who can play down to 13/14.” Additionally, the listing actually seems to make her, and not Geralt, as the lead of the show, "We are looking for an extraordinary young talent to lead this series. She should be brave hearted and must have something truly special about her."

Obviously fans of the Witcher game were not all too happy about this idea, and no don't because any of them are racist or what ever label has been handed out to them for disagreeing. All that the fans want is for the TV series to be true to the game, and not make racist decisions when casting for a specific and well known character. I would like to point out that I don't accuse people of being racist as the left does for any reason they feel, I don't it when there is actual racism involved. Like in this situation where a company is discriminating against people based on the colour of their skin, as well as making that prejudice decision to promote their identity politics ideology. Their decisions here are based on nothing but race and to promote racial diversity, not to mention sex, by changing the the story to now focus on Ciri rather the Geralt, who the story is actually about. This is what happens when people only view the world though the prism of race and sex, they inevitably become racist and sexist.

Really??? First of all I hadn't heard the news that Netflix was making a TV Show version of The Witcher! I loved the Witcher III one of my favorite games of all time. I didn't play the other games in the series. I spent so many hours in that game. Yeah I agree with you on casting choices. Just be true to the game!

Oh I totally agree, I loved the last Witcher game, so much so that I just started re-playing it to do a review of it.

hehehe that is awesome Mork! I don't dare pick the game up and start playing again, last time I put like 100 hours into it, and didn't do many of the side quests...lol Those kind of games suck me in, but I love them. The next one I am looking forward to is Red Dead Redemption 2. The first one was incredible. Check out the trailer if you haven't, might be a good one to review. :)

I found it hilarious when Netflix programs started pushing the anti-trump agenda. They clearly made a choice and presented to its customers.

I just don't understand why you would purposefully alienate half your audience, it just doesn't make economic cents, lol. See what I did there...
