For The Next 21 Days

As of Thursday night 11:59pm South Africa will be going into a full lock down of all businesses, except for essential services like hospitals, clinics, grocery stores and food producers, including security orientated operations like the military, police and traffic department. People are only allowed out and about for the express purpose of shopping for food, visiting the doctor and in case of an emergency. I don't need to draw you a picture of what the unstoppable financial implications are going to be, and I think they might have a far more catastrophic outcome than the Chinese virus ever could have. That problem is the debt bubble that started long before the the virus ever saw the light of day. The mortgage crisis of 2008 was only a drop in the bucket of what is coming next.

Again I don't think there is any other alternative to a shut down, due to how rapidly the virus is spreading here in SA. When compared to Italy, the infection rate went from 1 person to about 400 in 26 days, where as here in South African the infection rate went from 1 person to 554 people in only 19 days. Luckily there has been no deaths due to COVID-19 as of yet, and I fear we might not exactly know how many people are actually infected. The reason is because our government is in no way equipped to manage this kind of crisis, due to rampant years of corruption by our political leaders, infurstructure like police and hospitals are hanging by a thread. To put it in perspective, our murder rate is higher than the USA, which has 300 million more population, and on top of that our government has not been fix the electricity crisis that we have been having for the last 12 years. So we might be pretty fucked.
