SUCCESS IS IN YOUR RELATIONSHIPS.

It is no big news today that if you want to succeed in life, you should work or walk with those who are already successful in that path you hope to follow. Although this might not be a new phenomenal, it is still surprising to know that a lot of people do not pay attention to the relationships they have, keep or build with other humans. This is sad!

Hi, and welcome to another wonderful episode of the #SuccessSeries. In today’s episode of Morgan Daily, we would be looking at the importance of understanding the kind of relationships to build in order to use it as a tool for Success.. You can literally shape your life by keeping relationships or connections that matter in order to give a supposed return of investment in your nearest future. Stay tuned.

RULE ONE: DON’T BE A GOLD DIGGER

Technically, a gold digger is usually after the money by faking relationships or emotions. Now many people don’t understand that you don’t have to create relationships just because you’re selfish. The best way to go around enjoying success from relationships is not by getting close to people just to use them to get where you want to be but by actually creating a relationship that would last long term, where you and they party involved would share core values.

The first step to utilizing the benefits of relationships to become successful is to understand the concept that you don’t have to be a gold digger or a selfish person. Create and utilize quality relationships.

SHOW ME YOUR FRIEND!

We all must have come across this popular quote/proverb that goes thus;
“Show me your friend and I will tell you who you are”

It is important that we know our environment plays a major role in our success story. Where you grew up, who you grew with, how you grew up are some factors that affect your overall productivity in life; that is why they should be monitored.

The type of people you grow up with, communicate or hang out with will determine the kind of life you live to an extent. The reason being that we are controlled by our own thoughts and thoughts most times are generated from what we listen to or see over time and these could be as a result of the influence of the communication we make with certain people.

For instance, if 80% of your friends are Politicians or politically inclined, it would be certain that you could also be involved in politics one way or the other. If almost all the people you roll with are involved with football or basket ball, chances are that you would be too. Also, if your friends are involved in drug dealing or illegal activities, chances are that you would soon join them - that’s assuming you’re not among yet.

Rather, the idea is that while everybody in your life might not be directly or indirectly related to your way in life or the plans you’ve mapped out for your life, all you have to do is to spend more time (in quality and quantity) with the people that really matter to your purpose in life.

WHAT TYPES OF RELATIONSHIP SHOULD YOU KEEP?

Now while this isn’t a blog post on life in general but more focused on the area of personal achievement and success, I will just be scrolling around a few types of relationships I feel is best to keep in order to experience success. Check them out below

1. THE MENTOR-SHIP RELATIONSHIP

When the issue of success is mentioned, the best form of relationship to keep especially when you’re just starting out in the journey is the Mentorship relationship. Mentorship is the easiest way around succeeding in life. I have always believed that mentorship is the best way to go when you’re trying to achieve things in life especially when you are new in that particular journey.

To excel in life, I suggest that you find a mentor who is more successful than you are in that field you are trying to build in and submit yourself to his or her guidance. I can’t fully tell us the benefits of mentorship on this particular post because it is vast, so I will be creating a post for it later.

Mentorship is the best relationship to invest in because it will shorten your journey.

2. RELATIONSHIP WITH LIKE MINDS

While it is important to make relationships and contact with those ahead of us in life, I find it important to also hang out, communicate and have solid relationships with those who are also in our level of progress or a little about it but like minded. Having peers who are a little bit successful than you are is also an added advantage because while you keep aiming at a bigger picture, you have at hand someone who has a level of experience that is higher than yours.

Since we may not always have access to our mentors or role models, keeping a beneficial relationship with those who we can easily access and assist will do us a lot of good.

Find like-minded people who are in your level and make good friends with them.

3. LEAD A RELATIONSHIP

A lot of people underestimate the power of this type of relationship because they feel they are not qualified, but no matter what level you are in life, as long as you have a little experience that can produce good result, you can be a leader.

The idea of leadership here is not being a pushy boss figure or a control freak but rather to put yourself in the position to be of value to those you haven’t reached your level of progress or achievement in a particular field. Note that no matter your current level of progress, there are tons of people you’re still better than and you can always reach out to them to assist them the way your mentors assist you.

The good thing about this type of relationship is the fact that you get to actually act like a successful person people look up to without faking it. Success in some ways is a form of leadership and people attach themselves a lot to those they feel they are successful. Success is a journey and at different points in life you will always be a better you who would be eventually better than some people out there. By being a leader of a small ‘pack’, you set yourself for greatness in the future.
