Problems being faced in Akodo.

This are issues that really needs to be attended to, based on the interview #RADIOXITYMEDIA had with the Town people.

First of all, let me introduce to you who #Radioxity is...

RADIOXITY is a Media house that's touches basically every part in the entertainment/media industry... You can check them out here for services, in case you need any, and for support if you're willing to render.

So RADIOXITY media team went to some where in Lagos State in the Ibeju lekki axis, known as AKODO, with the hope of shooting a Short movie and a documentary titled 'OMOLARA'. But before ward, they've scouted in this axis before, and they observed some certain things about this part of Lagos that's not known to most people, perhaps because it's too far from the outside world, No offense; i mean it's almost very different from every where else in Lagos State.

I believe the reason why they chose this location is because it suits the kind of short movie they are about to shoot, not knowing the villagers here face the same problem.

Being a witness, I was able to see for myself the problems this people face, and it was like the major problem that was shut as the documentary and movie... by #Radioxitymedia.

Akodo is a very cool place to be, perfect as the Environment looks, and the beautiful beach and trees gives it another special kind of feel, especially when you're handling a camera or drone to film the cinematic kind of Environment it has. It's not limited to nature's blessings/beauty's whatsoever.

But the problem they face in that town is even more complicated as it appears to be...

This are few major problems that needs intervention at Akodo.

Education: Can you believe that this blessed region with the most talented Fisher men/boys in Lagos State only have just one primary and secondary school in the very big town of theirs.

The school looks beautiful though, but it's not equipped with enough facilities, they have only few teachers for subjects they are meant to observe, limited lab equipments, and materials to study, they hardly achieve anything even while at school.
I heard one of the student saying, their school is a play ground not a study ground when he was being interviewed, he said; "We students only dance and clap during class hour instead of studying and practising what we've been thought, but how can we practice when we were not the anything".

I felt pity for this boy, he sounded so brilliant and confident and I feel the whole world needs to know about this...

Although there are other several schools in the town, but they are private schools and they are unaffordable for this kids parents.

Education is not the only problem they experience in this Akodo - Ibeju lekki axis.

I saw for my self with my naked eyes how people went to the sea-side to defecate, regardless their gender, no shame, nothing, because they have no choice.
I see them dig the soft white beach ground with their hand, bend over and puu, almost a hundred of them... They do this very early in the morning and they don't even bother to wash their butts.

I was privileged to take pictures of them, but I didn't, I couldn't bear it, what if I was born in this region and someone take a picture of me half naked, what will I do if I find out? What will you do if it was you?

How does that sound or feel to you?

Medical centers: As far as I am concerned, Akodo only have just one(1) major Medical health care center which is even a bit far away from the town in which I was, and during the interview, most of the people complained of not being properly attended to, based on the work load on the Doctors/Nurse.
This Medically trained professionals are usually very strict and Ash to their patients, which should not be, they only patiently attend to people who have money to tip them with before and after their treatment...
That's not fair enough If I'm asked.

Just like the town people said; "They are not enough facilities in the hospital to treat the patients, we are supposed to be given drugs for free, yet we still have to pay for them". This people are very less privileged and poor, they don't have the power for all that, and people die every single day through the cause.

I'm not sure if they are private hospitals there, but I know for sure that this people cannot afford the bills if at all they were...

Electricity: This is like a common problem in almost every part in Lagos State here in Nigeria. But it's even more complicated in Akodo town... I doubt if they have Power supply at all.

With the amount of water that surrounds them.

This people are suffering from things that can make their lives better, they are being deprived of their rights as human, and nobody is doing anything about it.

Electricity can help them live a better life, but because they don't have it, they get adapted to it's absence which is not good enough... This people live like they are not in existence, nobody remembers them.

They are like forgotten people in the ancient time.

Bad road: This people endure a whole lot of things and one of the things they suffer from again is bad road.
The Gallops in the town is higher and deeper than the ones they have in their beach, a car cannot come to visit without having atleast a problem with the front/back bumper... Yes! It's that worse, especially during the raining season.... Oh you need to see how bad this place use to be when it rain.

Several holes/bumps formed in a hard clay ground, if you don't drive gently then you will definitely have problems with your car and trust me you cannot imagine how dirty your car will turn out to be after leaving the town.

Job opportunity: The people also complain of job opportunities, they have the strength to work, but they don't know how/where to execute it except for the fishing business they do, due to the fact that they are close to the sea.

This people need jobs that will fetch them money to cater for their kids, so as to maintain a healthier life style...

They need to be empowered, they need opportunities, they need help, they need support, they need every possible favour they can get from anyone from any where in the world....

There are many problems faced in this axis, but i can't possibly mention them all, you need to see for yourself what this people are going through....

Nobody is blaming the government here, there are some individuals who may possibly do even better than what the government will offer, The government cannot reach every where, we are the government, we should make improvements and help ourselves, we see ourselves closely than the government does....

I'm also using this medium to call unto the CSR (Corporate social responsibility) to come to the aid of this people.... The government should also drop their spot light on them.
