Humanity

/
There was a sincerity to his voice
That never quite matched his eyes
And when he laid those eyes on me
I knew instantly
The dynamics of a prey
And its hunter.

This poem may be short, but means a lot to me on a more personal level. Throughout the years, with the internet expanding and individualism increasing, it sometimes seems we all have lost some of our humanity. We as a people have become desensitised and blind for the hurt other people may go through or the feelings they have. I found this to be especially true in dating and love, where people have become 'things' instead of 'humans'. May this then be a small cry in the search for humanity, once again, and to embrace all people.
