How The Smash Bros. Community Won Christmas - A True Story

in #dtube5 years ago (edited)

This Christmas I was privileged enough to come across a series of Facebook posts that made my heart, and everyone else that witnessed grow 2x that day.

Christmas morning a young Joseph Orbik took to a Smash Bros. Facebook group to share his new presents. He got the Nintendo Wii U along with a Smash Bros. 4 Starter pack. For anyone that isn't "hip" this is the old version of the game. Smash Bros. Ultimate just came out this November, breaking all of Nintendo's previous pre-sale records. For a kid to come to school with a Wii U and Smash Ultimate after Winter break would be similar to getting Booster instead of a Turbo Man. As you can imagine, it didn't take long for the trolls of Facebook to come in and ruin this child's Christmas morning, but the day was not lost!

Another Smash Bros. Facebook group caught wind of what was happening, and decided that they would do something about it. Posts began to circulate in the group encouraging donations be made to fund a new present for Joseph. Within hours the group had raised enough to get Joseph the new Smash Bros. game, a Nintendo Switch console, and a pro controller (value of $500+ USD).

Ugh, I don't know about you guys, but just writing this makes me so incredibly happy to see some good in the world, decentralized or not.

God Bless Smash Bros.
