Demonetized on YouTube? This may be the real reason why

Many people have been affected by YouTube's demonetization programs with no warning and very little in the way of explanation. If you breach their terms and conditions then like any service provider they have the right to demonetize your videos. But this is not what is happening.

Many people have been seeing their pathetic earnings from YouTube slashed for no good reason at all.
Lucky for us on Steemit we have D.Tube to migrate too. It is still in beta but is getting better with every iteration.

I made a video of the #promo-uk event at the The London Investors Show and uploaded the video to YouTube unedited and it was immediately demonetized?

When I looked at the YouTube auto generated closed captions I got quite a shock. I edited the words that I thought would be on some kind of banned list and resubmitted the video and it was immediately monetized!

This is not just a pain but an increased amount of work. For some people YouTube used to be just a fun thing to do but it is becoming more of a hassle as time goes by.

This is the original 4K video with virtually no edits in the interests of full transparency. The audio is not great but we do get a sense of the ambiance and engagement of the audience.

Also I haven't manually changed the auto generated closed captions here in this version that YouTube created using it's audio transcription system which often generates hilarious results and this is a perfect example of why you still need humans to check the language in videos. This also has implications regarding freedom of speech.

Just for the record here is the auto generated captions created by YouTube's algorithm with the text that I changed in order for the video to be monetized. The changed text is highlighted.

You don't have to read them but they are going on the block chain. As you can see from the first few lines. It is gobbledygook but quite funny non the less apart from the demonetization aspect. YouTube's audio algorithm has misinterpreted a few words in the video such as Hezbollah!? Another as Jesus and another as Batista!? plunging this video into non monetization because of a terrorist organization, a religious figure and a puppet dictator as being in the video which it isn't but for their own stupid robot system!?

This is the problem with technology. Robots are as dumb as the people that create them. I have taken the words out because I need the pennies from YouTube no matter how little it is.

I am a semi retired teacher and need to make a living from somewhere and after years of searching along came steemit and I am eternally grateful that @dan and @ned et al created this space where freedom of speech still has some meaning.

They had the foresight and compassion to create a way for millions to make some money in exchange for their skills and talents whatever they may be.

People need to feel valued. It's not rocket science and when a platform recognizes this and acts on it. It can only go one way. Stratospheric. Hang on because it's going to be a wild ride. If you got this far into this post congratulations. It is very long. :)
