I remember when I first came to Japan, over a dozen years ago, I mispronounced bonsai as banzai. Of course to English speakers the words are mostly the same, and in American English our o's tend to take on an "ah" sound naturally, so I hadn't thought much of my pronunciation. The Japanese I knew at that time were partially amused and partially confused as they explained that banzai is actually something completely different.

Anyway, great shots. I have loved these small plants for years. There is an annual bonsai show here in Okazaki that I attend every year. I should try to take some photos of it this year.

Sounds like a very good idea to get some photos of the Okazaki show.

Banzai! no wonder your friends were surprised. It's a battle cry!

I love these shots.. I have a Canon EOS and I love it.
Bonsais are so cool. There is a bonsai club here.

I'm very happy with the Canon 70D and the 30mm lens is great for depth of field. There's a bon-sai club? Cool

I have not gone; I think they meet in another city. I have a fixed 50mm lens I love :)

The 50mm is a great lens. I need to get one and a macro lens for those extreme close ups.

Bon-sai trees are always a delight to look at them and not just because they are miniature trees but also how they are arranged in different pots. The one from your first photo is pretty nice in that pot.

I like the top photo pot too. Looks a bit like a very comfy garden chair :)

I belong to a place called that has a Bonsai display open to the public. I need to get over there and shoot some.

They are very beautiful. I love them. Get some photos.

I've always loved these little trees, they are just too cute. <3

They are super cute and very arty too!

Lovely Bon-sai! If you ever visit Southern California, you might enjoy a visit to The Huntington Library. They have a great Bon-sai collection there. I did a post about it a while back: https://steemit.com/nature/@denisechips/bonsai-bonanza-tree-tuesday

Cool and thanks for putting a related link here for people to follow. @denisechips

Very beautiful photos. I, too, are engaged in growing trees in my summer cottage. Thank you for the information!

That's a nice little Bon-sai tree Eduards how long have you had it?

This tree is two years old. They quickly grow quickly.

It's a lovely example. Is it easy to keep it looking good?

I water with water once a week. The flower is afraid of the sun - the leaves begin to turn yellow.

I love bonsai. I used to have one that I cultivated for years. But, when we moved once, it was didn’t survive the move. Nice submission for TreeTuesday.

Sorry to hear your Bon-sai didn't make it.

I did post the link to @old-guy-photo on his #TreeTuesday post for today. Thanks.

Thank you for that.

Sure. Sorry. Didn’t mean to offend.

No offence taken. It's just inefficient in terms of search for readers.

A forest in a cup. Very zen:) Love the bon-sai but one must be both and artist and gardener to keep them alive:)

They are little gems and they do take a bit of skill and artistry to keep looking good. Maybe there is a Bon-sai home service that could do it? :)

Probably there is:)
