Ziaur Rahman was the 7th President of Bangladesh. He was an army general turned politician who, as a major in the army, had read out the Independence Declaration for Bangladesh on behalf of its first independent Head of State Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on 26 March 1971. He became President of Bangladesh
