In my post yesterday I have told about the unit of time, but in mathematics, there are several units, including units of time, units of length, unit weight, unit area and units of numbers. But I do not explain all the units now, on this day I want to explain about the Unit of Capacity.
In everyday life, we must very often hear about the litre and even often use it, such as when buying cooking oil, gasoline, and others. Surely this science is very important for us to learn, so we are not wrong in using it.
In the market and at home we may see some vessels of 10 litres and 15 litres capacity in cylindrical or cuboid shapes. There are different types of drums having 100 litres capacity.
In mathematics, this is called Volume, the unit of volume is usually marked with the word "cubic" in the end, or denoted by the "3" rank placed after the volume unit.

Unit Volume of Liter

The litre is one of the volume units used to measure the volume or capacity of an object and is usually used to measure liquid objects, such as water, oil, gasoline and others.
Writing litres using lowercase letters, such as millilitres (ml). To make it easier to understand the unit of litre below is the conversion stair unit of Litre.

  • Each down one level then multiplied (×) by 10
  • Each up one level then division (:) with 10

Here are some examples of problems and solutions in daily life about litre units.

1- Convert the following units into millilitres (ml)

  • a. 20 litre (l)
  • b. 25 litre (l) 80 millilitre (ml)

Solution:

1 l = 1000 ml

  • From litre (l) to millilitre (ml) down 3 levels so that multiplied by 1000

- a. 20 litre (l)

= 20 x 1000
= 20,000 millilitres (ml)

- b. 25 litre (l) 80 millilitres (ml)

= 25 x 1000 + 80
= 25000 + 80
= 25080 millilitres (ml)

2- A water tank contains 2,500 litres of water. During the day 500,000 kilolitres (kl) of water is pumped out from the tank. How much water is left in the tank?

Solution:

  • From kilolitre (kl) to litre (l) down 3 levels so is division with 1,000

Therefore water left = 2000 litres
