RE: 'From Beyond the Grave' (1974): Above-Average Amicus Anthology

in #film5 years ago

This is such a phenomenal anthology film! Seriously, right up there with Creepshow in my book. I love the final segment because it shows there's more to Temptations, Ltd. than meets the eye: as long as you treat them right, they'll do right by you. They aren't just out to screw everybody over, like the shopkeeper from Needful Things. :)

Delightfully frightful review as always, @janenightshade. Coming close to Halloween now...got any choices for tomorrow night's main event? :)

Yup! It didn't escape me that the honest guy was the only one who was spared the final carnage!

If you haven't watched the second half of your Black Sunday/Black Sabbath double bill, I'd go for that. It's an anthology with the first one about a cleavage-endowed woman being stalked by a telephone prankster (shades of Scream); second is about a maid who steals a valuable ring from the corpse of her employer; third features THEEE Boris Karloff in a creepy tale about a Russian noble family being terrorized by a vampire. If not Black Sabbath, one of the other Amicus anthologies would be very cool -- assuming you haven't seen them all. My faves are Dr. Terror's House of Horrors, and The House That Dripped Blood. And of course, the original Tales of the Crypt directed by Freddie Francis.

I'm probably gonna watch The Legend of Hell House (haven't seen it in years) and the original The Wolfman starring Lon Chaney, Jr.
