Dino Crisis (PlayStation) Ad
Don't get me wrong, I love me some Resident Evil, but can anyone possibly argue against the greatness and superiority of 1999's Dino Crisis in virtually every way?
- Better voice acting!
- Smarter enemies!
- Superior camera!
- Badass female lead character Regina!
- Two words: Indestructible T-Rex!
So come on, Capcom, it's been seventeen years since Dino Crisis 2 and I miss the little red-headed dino-slayer. How about you bring her back for an encore act, with Stephanie Morgenstern as her voice, and in exchange, I'll give you some of my hard-earned money. Deal?
I have played classic re games multiple times each, still haven't played Dino Crisis. I know I need to, this post makes more motivated to do it.
I was actually just starting writing an article about Dino Crisis and a Parasite Eve, games in this styling. These were some of my favorite PS1 games and I still play them on my PSP and PS3. That's the great thing about backwards compatibility that all the consoles should have available for. I know Dino Crisis 3 is suck a let down I played it and was one of those I never got into and is basically the only retro game I have allowed to be lost or sold.
The games that followed Resident Evil seemed to resolve and fix any complaints people had about RE1. The camera and movement were better controlled. The game maps were easily navigated. The changes made when playing through the second time on them.
I have read multiple times that They have been urged over the last 3 years to at least remaster the games like done for RE1. I have even read that Capcom is entertaining the idea of doing 4th game or remastering Dino Crisis 1&2.
Lets keep our fingers crossed they do this rather than keep the project scrapped because of 1 failed game in the series that no one liked or played through. We do have to also compete with games like Monster Hunter coming up and new Devil May Cry games in development but that does not mean they cannot create a team just for this project.
Why hasn't this been rebooted? It's a kickass IP that they've completely ignored.
I'd settle for them testing the waters with the kind of HD Remaster they did for Resident Evil. I'd buy the hell out of a Dino Crisis HD Collection on PS3, especially if they left part 3 to rot and included Dino Stalker in its place. But yeah, a reboot would be lovely. Two years is the 20th anniversary of the original's release, after all, and they should be celebrating.
It's too bad Dino Crisis 3 was so dramatically different that I couldn't even stomach the first hour of it. The atmosphere of the first Dino Crisis in particular was amazing. Dinosaurs in space? Not so much.
Dino Crisis 3 is one of the most massive disappointments of my retro gaming life. Not only did it jump ship from PlayStation to appear on the Xbox, but it bore no resemblance at all to either the survival horror original, or action run-and-gun sequel, and they had the audacity to put it in fucking space. It's like nobody learned a goddamn thing from Jason X: if your horror franchise did not start in space, moving it to space is a worse idea than cock-slapping Conor McGregor and asking him, "What are you gonna do about it?"
