Many news spread on the internet on daily basis by other than authentic sources. Many of these news are potentially fake, but there is no way for a common reader to determine their authenticity.
TattleGEN is a platform that tells us whether the news is fake or true on the basis of the information provided by the crowd.

so, the public wants to be told whether news is fake or not and this tool uses public opinion to tell whether a news is fake or not? seems contradictory. anyway, it is a unique idea. not sure about the efficacy.
Agreed, idea is somewhat different and practical as well. Many news channels are usinhg a version of this idea. People capture the video of any incident/accident and send that video to the channel/s and then that video is shared with the public by the channel/s if found authentic.
Rest of the news/articles are mostly provided by the journalist, and not all of the journalist are too professional now a days and news could be fake. So, the basic idea of TattleGEN is to gather the information about a news from the crowd who had come in direct contact or was affected by that incident/accident et cetera.
