Our Attachments Lead To Happiness And Suffering

I wrote this many years ago:

Truly understanding leaves one little hope here on Earth however, a deep sense of intuition coupled with certain life experiences can teach one much about ultimate truth. This type of truth is superior to any type of relative truth we may come in contact with here in the physical, earthly realm.

Unless we are completely devoid of intelligence, we realize that nothing we have will last. Being human however, it seems we have a need to cling to something whether it be a wife, stereo, book, etc. The realization that nothing will last coupled with the desire to cling creates a contradiction. It is this contradiction which leads to suffering.

I am not saying not to get attached; what I am saying is that we should be fully aware that nothing we have will last. Because of this, we should enjoy things while we can and not be surprised when things pass.

Life leads to love which yearns to stay.
