Why Bad Decision Is Better Than No Decision

in #steem7 years ago (edited)

More often than not, a wrong decision takes you close to your goals than making no decisions at all. One of the things that  keeps people held back, from reaching their goals and achieving success, is this resistance to making a wrong decision.

We feel this fear over the idea of a wrong decision coming back and harming us in some way. But most of the successful people that I know, never knew what all of the different elements were going to look like on their path to reaching the end goal. All they knew was that they were going to get there or that they were going to take enough action, to get them to the next point.

ELON MUSK probably did not know that he was going to start SPACEX that he was going to start and TESLA when he got in and started PAYPAL.

And when he decided that he was going to colonize mars; or that he was going to create the world's coolest electric car.

He probably did not know all the different pit falls that were going to happen along the way. He just decided that that was going to be the case. And if you are an entrepreneur, we like to pretend as though we can map out all of the different scenarios that are going to happen before we take any sort of action.

Or, if we are pursuing some new career, or we're on a fitness journey, we like to ask the question, well "What if this happens!?. What is my plan or my strategy to navigate those things?

And sometimes having a formula or a simple strategy go get to that destination can be helpful. But what ultimately is the case is that nothing really happens until you decide that you are going to take some sort of action. And what most people do is they consume all of this information to try and give themselves the courage to make a decision.

They want to feel as though they will be confident in the result.

In order to...Take a step in the direction of reaching their goals. But the reality is, we don't get the end vision until we demonstrate that we can show courage and make a decision operating within this courage, this period of courage, where it is going to be hard and we figure it out. And then we navigate along the way. Something weird happens, and most religions and philosophies echo this idea that when you are making a decision or when you are in a certain direction, other things seem to conspire to support you.

I don't know if I subscribe to that idea but what I do know is that when I make a clear decision and I communicate it to someone else.

I plant a seed in that person's brain to support me on that journey. And they meet other people along the way that they introduce me to and certain opportunities open up to make that path faster and easier and they are usually opportunities that never would have seen, had i not just made the decision that this is where I'm going.

So if there is an area of your life that you don't know what you want. If there is an area in your life where you feel stuck. If there is an area in your life where you feel unclear; The only thing that you can do is decide where you are going. And here is the mental warp of it all. The reality is that we are always deciding.

Even the action of delaying a decision is a decision in and of itself. The idea of doing nothing is a decision.

We are constantly deciding making decisions about what we will pursue, or what we will focus on. So since you are already deciding, decide in the direction of where it is that you want to go; knowing full well that it may be the wrong decision, and you will need to course correct later.

Because if you make a "MISTAKE", that is not "FAILURE". What it does is, allows you to make a different decision with better data.

You can't always go back to the way that life used to be. And if you decide to do that, that is not failure. That is simply another decision.

So we are always making decisions.

And in your life, if you want to go in a certain direction, the only thing that you can do is make decisions that get you somewhere on the path to that, and then course correcting later. Otherwise, we stay stuck exactly where we are. Because nothing moves and nothing happens until we make a decision.

We love to draw out maps and we love to come up with ideas and we love to brainstorm certain things. We love to ask if something will work, or what strategy is best. But in reality, nothing happens until we decide. Then we get to discover what the challenges will be. Then we get to see what type of opportunities open up. But that seed, where it all starts, nothing happens until we make the decision that that's the direction that we are going.

I gave you some lovin How bout you give me some too?

what do you mean you give me some lovin @stopyoutube?

Results of having wrong decisions will teach you a lot of lessons. Not doing anything and miss the opportunity of learning is saddening. People do mistakes but they learned a lot from it. This is a very nice post.

Indeed @applekie. By making a decision you are moving forward by learning from mistakes.

Hi missgee! :) your post makes me think. very cool! i think we are often so afraid of making the wrong choice, that we fail to even try..

Yes you are right. Just decide on thing you want. You knew what is good and bad. Even we don't know the consequences of that decision we made in the end, at least we tried. You failed? Then you learned from it. That is how life works. If you just stay put on where exactly you are, nothing will improve at all.
