Cat life and having them as pets - General tips

in #pets6 years ago

The world out there is so good to explore and you can go travelling doing adventures your style. However, finding that perfect companion to accompany you on your adventures is very essential. It’s quite common for outdoor adventure seekers to take along their dogs on their adventures, but looks like its getting common to take cats out on adventures as well(: . Enjoy these videos of outdoor cats .

Most of us, bind our cats indoors, but perhaps we should gear them to be a little outdoorsy, if we are the outdoor type. As far I know cats are nature lovers, they love grass, sand, trees and chasing butterflies/squirrels and are most happy doing so. So, perhaps the best way to start on making a outdoor cat, is take it out with a leash initially. When it’s small only make them comfortable with a leash, and then slowly take them out with a leash.

Let them begin to enjoy a safe outdoor haven with grass, sand, trees and monitor them, 30 minutes a day. Hopefully they would become accustomed to coming along with you out and would obey you. Later pack them for an adventure, when you feel they ready as in they would not run away and would be there in the near radius where you are around. I guess its ok, for them to go around a bit, just be around and call them after a while, train them to come to you after a set time.
Cats are fun, because they can be super naughty and they relax as well, lazing around in the sun enjoying the simple gifts of life fully. Friendly cats interact with you, enjoy being carried, cuddled, lay down on you, near you and on your lap. Their skin is so soft and its sweet to touch it, they make great pets. According to me, they are easy to keep, as compared to dogs that need more attention. Dogs, need regular walks, baths, they are bigger, always need to be engaged but cats are small, we don’t need to bath them that much, they don’t need so much attention and engagement also they do their toilet in the litter, so we don’t need to dedicate time to take them out for their toilet.
However, do take time out - to play with them, cats love caughting any hanging and dangling stuff , and chasing balls. It’s a good idea to start brushing their teeth, at least 1ce in two days, so they don’t get teeth problems, however, it’s better to start this habit off when the cat is a kitten. Combing their fur is a good idea as well, to keep them fresh, although cats groom themselves as well. Introducing a outdoor element in their lives keeps them calm I think, so if your cat is indoor, let them atleast have a nice balcony, with some sunlight and maybe some grass, so they can have a outdoor time. Some cats are adventures they keep jumping on top of shelves, so design a environment where cats can climb and jump. However, if your cat loves the outdoors, try taking him out, but always be there to monitor him, because indoor cats are timid and exposing them fully outdoors confuses them, they run around to enjoy outdoors but are scared maybe terrified of the outside world as well.

After sometime, when cats grow up even they need a like minded companion, so it’s better to give it another cat as companion at a early stage in its life. This is because cats have lots of energy, they love to run and scrat and roll and only another cat can be that companion who can tag along enjoying these sort of stuff. It can surprise people, but cats are not lazy, unfriendly all the time, they can be really active, playful and friendly, it depends on the personality of the cat. They very much, bite and scratch sofa seats, tear stuff like cardboard, paper so please have scratch pads, or hard staff like doormat for them to scratch.

Also, if cats are to be pets, mostly they have to be neutered, that’s popular belief, because else cat stray population increases, cats get aggressive, fight and endanger their own lives, however, its upto the cat parent’s belief system. In the case of having a unneutered cat, remember they would only be outdoors and think of mating and procreation, they won’t be close or friendly with you as a pet. There is a chance that life expectancy of the cat comes down as well. Owners of female cats, have to take care of the kittens, and every 3 months cats give birth to something like 4 kittens. When cats get in heat and are indoors, their behavior would cause pet owners much discomfort, as they start spraying urine around and meow excessively, displaying signs of them being in heat.

Also, vaccinating cat pets are a must, for them to be immune against diseases and germs.
In some cases, cat parents may get a cat that’s a problem cat that’s a little difficult to handle, so patience is required with love, you have to accept it as it is and correct it slowly to the extent possible. Understanding the cat and adjusting our interactions with it accordingly is a nice way to co-exist with it. And yeah, best part is with cats, you get a great roach hunter, so your house would be roach free.

Spread love to cats… have adventures with you cat pet.

Being neutered sounds painful. This is an informative post, though.

I have two feral cats who live in my neighbor's yard. I tried to organize catching them to get them neutered and/or spayed, but he was against the idea. He's an older guy, grew up in Eastern Europe, and just doesn't see a problem with feeding stray animals.

The only real problem is that the cats use my yard as their cat bathroom and, for whatever reason, my dogs like to consume the cat waste from time to time, despite the fact that it makes them sick. Dogs aren't the brightest animals in the world. :)

You have no idea, how painful it was for me to neute my first cat, which is the brown one but I had to because he is like 95% indoor cat. People told to neute him coz cats fight, their life span would be less, they spray and lose attachment with owner. Also male cats trouble young female cats when in heat, I heard. So got my first one neutered . I had to put him on a fast for 12 hours, which was hard, coz he was wanting food and nagging me for food. However, they put anesthetic and neuted him. It was hard, but all is well in the end. My brown cat is super friendly, playful, happy, naughty and healthy. When he became a year and a half got a grown white cat for him, the people who delivered the white cat, actually rescued that cat, as it was injured, they neuted him as well. Now, both cats are happy. Second cat, is a problem cat, he refuses to be picked up to be vaccinated, have to sort the issue soon. Thanks for commenting and lots of love to your dogs, I know dogs eat waste, I seen it. Generally cats, dig a hole go toilet and bury the waste, its not nice they turned your backyard into toilet): , they should go toilet somewhere else.
