Morning Thoughts 1

in #life7 years ago

Last night I spent an above average time alone at home, finally getting my office things unpacked and my computer set up. Most of it has been sitting in the room since we first moved in a few months ago. Me being myself, got sucked into my computer while my wife was in the next room over watching an episode of Duck Dynasty and during that time my father/mother in-law who have been staying with us for the summer just got back from an anniversary date night. We chit chatted for a while then my mother in-law got a phone call from a close relative living in Utah.

I was not in the same room but I could overhear half of the conversation and the tone of her voice as she was told her sister and her family was ordered to evacuate because of a wildfire coming their way. They needed to leave very soon and had to pack up what they valued most and head to the a safe city.

It was terrible news for us all to hear. I don't know them very well but I did have the chance to meet them last December, very nice people. We stood together in our living room and prayed for the safety of our relatives and those around them and be with the firefighters as they put themselves at risk to save others. I can't imagine how it would feel to leave everything you have on a short notice and hope that it is still there in a week.

My thoughts this morning are about the people in danger and what they might loose. I am very fortunate to live the life I do and have the things I have but I know that it can all be taken away in an instant. I am thankful God has blessed my life and I am thankful for communities like this that can come together when people are in need. Please keep the people affected by this in your thoughts and prayers.
