Prayers from the Heart: Meditating on God’s Goodness and Awesome Sovereignty

in #christianity7 years ago

Precious Lord,

Today I stopped and just meditated on the fact that You are who You are…Jesus…the King of kings, the Lord of lords, Creator of all, who with His Word spoke everything into existence. You are so great and glorious that I can’t even really begin to comprehend it. And yet, You love me so deeply that You came in the flesh and died for me. Not only that, but you rose from the dead and You are alive! You are so good, so merciful, so kind, wanting none to perish but for all to come to repentance.

My precious Lord, forgive me, I should be in a perpetual state of awe because You are so awesome – and yet here I am, somehow I had taken my eyes off of just how magnificent You are – even the limited understanding I do have of your majesty and glory. At times I have even doubted You – how foolish of me!

You cannot lie, and You cannot fail. You’ve never left me, and never given me a single reason to doubt You, only millions of reasons to trust You completely.

You are sovereign, You are perfect. My God and my King, I love You. Help me to always treat You with the proper reverence.

Amen.

Prayers from the heart is a series of short prayers written with the intent of helping you in your prayer time. There is no ‘magic formula’ to prayer, and no set of written words that will make whatever you want happen. Simply pray from your heart, be honest with your Heavenly Father and remember that He loves you. If this prayer or any other prayers from this series make a good starting point for you, please feel free to use them!

Here are a few helpful scriptures about prayer, as well:

And we will receive from him whatever we ask because we obey Him
and do the things that please Him.
1 John 3:22

You can pray for anything, and if you have faith, you will receive it.
Matthew 21:22

And this is the confidence that we have in Him, that, if we ask any thing according to His will,
He heareth us: And if we know that He hear us, whatsoever we ask,
we know that we have the petitions that we desired of Him.
1 John 5:14-15

Yet you don’t have what you want because you don’t ask God for it.
And even when you ask, you don’t get it because your motives are all wrong—
you want only what will give you pleasure.
James 4:2b-3

Amen, Your prayers remind me of Psalms, always from the heart.

Thank you so much, @livingwaters. You are such a blessing and encouragement. :) God bless you!
