Prayers from the Heart: Love, Gratitude, & Obedience

in #christianity7 years ago

Dear Lord,

Thank You for saving me from my sins, and forgiving me. The depth of my gratitude could never be fully captured in that simple phrase. Neither could the words “I love You,” fully express the deeply rooted love and hunger for You that burns in my soul.

You created me, and You sustain me, providing for all of my needs. You fashioned me with care. You have plans and purpose for me, Lord. You are perfect, not making mistakes. You hold me in the palm of Your hand, Lord, and I trust You. Whenever I’m tempted not to trust You completely, remind me Lord, that You are completely faithful, You have never once failed me, even though I have failed You.

Lord, even now I am not perfect. I would be deceiving myself if I tried to say I never sin. But Lord, I don’t want to sin. Thank You for teaching me Your wonderful ways, and helping me to walk in them better as I grow in You. I love You, Lord. I want to obey You in every respect because of my love for You, and because of Your great love for me.

Amen.

Prayers from the heart is a series of short prayers written with the intent of helping you in your prayer time. There is no ‘magic formula’ to prayer, and no set of written words that will make whatever you want happen. Simply pray from your heart, be honest with your Heavenly Father and remember that He loves you. If this prayer or any other prayers from this series make a good starting point for you, please feel free to use them!

Here are a few helpful scriptures about prayer, as well:

And we will receive from him whatever we ask because we obey Him
and do the things that please Him.
1 John 3:22

You can pray for anything, and if you have faith, you will receive it.
Matthew 21:22

And this is the confidence that we have in Him, that, if we ask any thing according to His will,
He heareth us: And if we know that He hear us, whatsoever we ask,
we know that we have the petitions that we desired of Him.
1 John 5:14-15

Yet you don’t have what you want because you don’t ask God for it.
And even when you ask, you don’t get it because your motives are all wrong—
you want only what will give you pleasure.
James 4:2b-3
