Half way through
I don't know how many of you have started a new business from scratch, but it is way more painful and costly than I originally thought it would be...
In case you missed the post I made a few days back and the one right before that, my girlfriend with a ninja move, quit her job and bought a small coffee shop with her / our savings...
I am thrilled actually, since for the first time in our lives we will run our own business. Both she and I have been working hard ever since we were teens. Damn...that's way too many years...and these are hard earned money...
But since she felt that this is the right time for this step, who am I to disagree. Besides we only live once, right?
Those of you who run their own business can relate with this situation...I am sure. But those of you who are employees such as myself, you would be shocked to know that even a small coffee shop such as the one we bought, requires thousands of dollars in order to be a proper shop.
I could just wait and pray to God to drive steem to new ATH's, or spend those savings and if things go well...purchase more steem :P
Needless to say how many hours we spend there and the amount of work we put into so that everything is set. Especially, considering the fact that I still have my day job...I literally feel that I will collapse one of these days...
Hopefully everything will be ready by Saturday night were the opening event is scheduled!!
We are half way through but if we keep up this pace and the repair crews do their job the way they do now, I don't think we'll face any last minute issues....probably....
Expect some new photos when everything is ready fellas!
Cheers.
Try to "keep up the pace" man. That first beer (or whatever you'll take) when all the work is done and makes Saturday a succes opening, will taste as one of the best you've ever drunk, believe me.
Ha! Beer it is!
Weather gets warmer every day so I guess my first drink will be a beer man. Or maybe twelve..
Mate...you should just see me...I've lost like 10 pounds in a week. Exhausted as fuck...
Can imagine that but think it will all be worth it.
Ahaaa ... Beer, that's my man!
Cheers.
It is a fantastic leap of faith and stepping in into freedom feels a bit like falling.
The best idea for an opening is a soft opening. Invite friends and family and everyone else they want to bring with them. Let anyone else in of course but a soft opening will make it less pressure. Everyone will know you are ironing out wrinkles and any mistakes or errors will be immediately forgiven.
Work hard and have fun.
Enjoy your launch!

Thank you Zeke!!!
I believe that it is painful. I understand this because I struggle with time each day and am usually the loser. The hurry hurts and if you did not make it, hurts too. And if you get scolded, it hurts even more. But of course, if you have your opening ceremony and you're not done yet, that's even worse. You have to be careful with time, you think you could do it and then, ho, the time has passed. Of course it is very good when you have finished and can still take time to relax, but mostly this is not the case. Relaxing is not easy with an additional 10 hours of work. Probably you will work until the end, at least I know that from me. In a café, there is nothing better than forgetting the time. And this is the case when there are people here who can give you the feeling of infinity.
It's never going to be easy but think of the satisfaction when it's all done. Rather than working for somebody else she can make the decisions and the money. It's a step i always planned on making in the future too. There are the risks but at least everything she does now is her choice.
