@mindhunter Makes Crab Canapes! Yum Yum! I Love Fresh Crab Meat.

in #food8 years ago

Crab canapes make great starters for a party or function, and they can even be frozen and reheated in 10 minutes using a pre-heated oven. My recipe serves 6.

INGREDIENTS:

150g crab meat (I love fresh crab meat best.)
1 tablespoon of thinly sliced spring onion
120g Gruyere cheese
8 tablespoons of mayonnaise
1/4 teaspoon of curry powder
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1 teaspoon of lemon juice
1 packet of ready made puff pastry

@mindhunter METHOD:

  1. Preheat the oven to 200C/180C fan oven.

  2. Lightly grease a baking tray.

  3. In a bowl, mix up the crab meat, spring onion, cheese, mayonnaise, curry powder, salt and lemon juice (I always like to mix well - like a Boss!)

  4. Roll out the puff pastry sheets and cut out circles using a sharp cutter (sometimes I use squares instead!)

  5. Place the pieces on the prepared baking tray, and spoon a bit of the mixture onto each piece of the pastry.

  6. Bake in a pre-heated oven for 12-15 minutes, until all puffy and brown. Always serve hot. I personally like a squeeze of lemon on top as well as some ground pepper too.

Bon Appétit my fellow Steemian gourmands.

Recipe sounds great! I will have to try this! STEEM ON!

Tastes good too - the crab taste is such a rich taste :) (Hence the Yum Yum! in the title!)

Hello Victoria, thank you for passing by.

P.S. Sometimes I like to add some chopped fried Canadian bacon to the mixture too.

I would personally serve with a cold bottle of Prosecco.

try it on English muffins!
:O
I have had close to the same thing but on English muffins and it was amazing!

I do not disbelieve that. GIMME!!!

its good but the flavor is super strong.
they were English muffins split in half then covered and cooked then after each side was cut into quarters. so like I ate 6 pieces and I was good because it was a strong flavor, not a bad thing in any way. they were awesome but I could not see eating bunch of them as it is something more to sample a bit or 5 not really a meal.
I love the idea of green onion, I do not think the ones I tried had any onion in them.

I like the onion added, and sometimes add bacon pieces too if I'm feeling decadent ;)

bacon added to anything is yum!
xD

The key to my heart is Canadian maple syrup cured bacon :))
