So we are a virus and flies have some similar system. So if they discover this arc system in other animals, it means those species may have some kind of long term memory like us.
Elephants for one have long term memories for sure, they are the only species (that I know of) that bury their dead and have graveyards that they go back to visit. As to whether this is the exact same memory system I dont know, but is it long term memory- that is a yes for me also.
