The past of the lion called Jupiter is not different from that of many other circus animals: central attraction to the spotlight and abuse at the end of the show. They tied him with chains and did not receive adequate food for a cat of his category. Her life was condemned to entertain the public and receive beatings ... All this until Ana Julia Torres and her shelter «Villa Lorena», located in Cali, Colombia, gave him a second chance.

Jupiter is imposing: he measures more than four meters, has a thick mane and threatening claws. However, his dangerous appearance is only a mask that is revealed by showing love to his caregiver, Ana, whom he hugs, kisses and licks. He is considered especially tender and grateful.

Ana Julia Torres, a teacher by profession, began the creation of her wildlife refuge by investing from her own salary.

In "Villa Lorena" Jupiter and approximately eight hundred other animals are well cared for: more lions, tigers, alligators, birds, snakes, monkeys and others, all previously beaten, mutilated and even sexually abused by supposedly rational "humans"; another portion of this fauna has been rescued from trafficking and illegal possession of exotic species.

If the stories of Hoppie, the adorable street cat, and Dindim, the faithful penguin, gave you back the faith, remember that there is a teacher named Ana Julia Torres, who, from her own pocket, formed what is now the happy home of many wild beings, including Jupiter, her "giant cat".

Torres is responsible for maintaining her legacy through the students she educates. The lesson is simple: love, care and respect all forms of life, because behind scaly tails, deadly fangs, empty eyes or broken wings there is a heart that beats at the same frequency of the affection we express.

If a lion like Jupiter, with the ability to easily kill any of his former executioners, relied on the same species that took him out of his home, drove him away from his family, weakened his instincts, cruelly suppressed his fierceness and ridiculed his appearance until it becomes a circus show, why do we, theoretically superior, not break the chains that bind us to disappointment, apathy or detachment? While Jupiter is not completely free, he does live in a space that adapts to his needs and more must never recreate inconsiderate minds.

We do not intend to deny the evil in the world or to totally abolish mistrust, but to inform them that two camps that fight for dominance coexist. Let's make sure that the good ones are more.
