"The sea heals wounds"
The title of this article cites the phrase my 13-year-old niece say me when we left the beach, pointing out a scratch on her knee. I watched her perplexed, I thought "Wow!", And I answered that she was absolutely right, that the sea healed all the wounds.

Most of the planet is covered by water, and the 5 oceans that make it up (Pacific, Atlantic, Indian, Antarctic and Arctic) comprise 71% of the earth's surface, which in turn is divided into 57 seas (14 in America , 8 in Oceania, 18 in Europe, 21 in Asia and 4 in Africa, some of them shared between two continents), finally dividing into thousands of beaches, some 595,814 km of coastline.
📌 When talking about hydrography it is important to know how to differentiate terms like ocean, sea and beach that are closely related but have relevant differences:
The first refers to large stretches of water that separate continents, while the second encompasses smaller extensions of the ocean, and the third is the union between the sea and the land.
There are several hypotheses about the origin of the oceans. One of the predominant ideas promotes that much of the water emerged from the interior of the earth and was expelled by volcanoes and geysers.
Another conjecture states that the rest of the liquid came to the planet thanks to the collision of asteroids covered with ice that collided with it; what, at least for me, means that "the sea is from another world".
Maybe that's why there is something about him that makes him very special; especially to "heal wounds"; since it has been scientifically proven that it exerts positive psychological as well as physiological effects on the human being.
🧠 Psychological action
The impact of the sea on people is due to neuroplasticity, the way the nervous system changes as it interacts with the environment.
Relaxation is the main benefit that occurs thanks to marine stimuli. The sound of the waves, and the abundance of blue in the sky and the sea make it the ideal place for calm; Being a space that can be fully contemplated, the person leaves the continuous state of alert in which they normally live in urban areas.
The sea also facilitates meditation. Once the person has relaxed, it is easier to reflectionar. In addition, it breaks the "rumination", a psychological phenomenon in which you are hooked to a thought that causes you stress, since the beach lacks elements that could remind you of the problems.
Another contribution is the stimulation of creativity. The same reasons that end with the obsessive thoughts, allow to develop ideas; thanks to the fact that the mind has no distractions, the creation process is facilitated.
🏊🏼♀️ Physiological action
Increase respiratory capacity, promote muscle power and strength, serve as a training medium less exposed to injury, healing, anti-inflammatory and analgesic, stimulate circulation and strengthen defenses, are some of the physiological benefits, that the sea produces in the functioning of the body.
If the low atmospheric concentration is combined with a high temperature and humidity, the respiratory capacity is improved because it increases the oxygen. On the other hand, using the resistance that goes against water as part of your physical conditioning improves muscle strength, and its anti-gravitational effect is the least harmful to the joints.
Thanks to the mineral content of the ocean, such as iodine, wounds take advantage of salt water, work as an antibiotic and cure at the same time; and also acts in the improvement of the circulation, therefore favors the slight inflammatory processes, when mixing the effect of the salts, with the temperature of the water and the movement like a massage that the waves produce. These same motives increase the defenses by stimulating their production in our immune system.
🙏🏼 Spiritual action

When I need to recharge my energy I go to the beach, I close my eyes and think that my soul has the shape and colors of a sunset, that in my veins runs the sea, and that every beat of my heart sounds like the wave when it breaks on the shore. Maybe it sounds very poetic, but it literally is my way of healing.
The effect of the sea is like the wind: that we do not see it does not mean that it does not exist, because even more important is that we can feel it.
As I have always said: "I was born in Los Andes but I'm from La Costa". The people who know me tell me that I could not stand long without being close to the sea; and the truth I can, but I do not want to. I love to believe that this site is my source of energy, because here I come to heal the wounds that I get playing Ultimate, as well as to heal the sadness that can sometimes hurt my soul.
Once I was sailing with a friend on Paddleboard, and I told him that the middle of the sea was my favorite place to talk to God, to which he replied that his energy was everywhere, that he could do it from any space; but I explained to him that just as there are people who go to church to pray to him, I feel in that place a special connection, it is as if I managed to have him look me in the eye.
Perhaps most of this article is supported scientifically, but the most important words for me are those that are developed based on experience; In this case, I believe that my conscience is the most reliable source I have, and with which I support with total certainty that the sea is capable of healing.
