SFcharity50pc. Uzbek style Pilaf. Easy Recipe
Today I am going to cook Uzbek version of Pilaf. There are many recipes of this dish and this is just my variant. I know that there are many details that play important role to make the dish taste great. First of all we need the right pot that must be with thick walls and deep. We call such pot "kazan" and it has a very unique design that is perfect for slow cooking. The goal is to let all ingredients cook well and the most important the rice needs slow cooking so this big pot with thick walls suits best. I am sure each family of Uzbekistan has its own version of this dish.
Preparation time: 30 minutes⏰
Cooking time: 2 h 🕛
Serving: 7 - 10 portions 🍽
Difficulty: easy👌
Cuisin: uzbek
Vegetarian: No
INGREDIENTS
• 1 kg of rice
• 1 kg of beef
• 1 kg of carrot
• 300 ml of vegetable oil
• 4 small onions
• 2 peppers
• garlic
• salt
Step 1
Prepare all the ingredients, peel and wash all vegetables.
Step 2
Cut the vegetables into big stripe shape chunks and meat into medium sized cubes. Wash the rice three or more times until the water is not transparent.
Step 3
Heat the oil and fry the meat until the meat get covered in golden brown. You can use any spices and herbs you like but I use just salt and black pepper.
Step 4
Add onion and fry together with meat.
Step 5
Put in the pot the carrots and fry together with meat and onions. Fry without stirring for 3 minutes. Then mix the entire contents of the pot and cook for 10 minutes, stirring slightly with a spatula.
Step 6
After that wash well the garlic from dust and add together with pepper.
Step 7
Remove the pepper and garlic from pot. Add rice and water to the mixture of meat and vegetables. You can salt. The water must cover the rice as you normally cook about 3 cm. Place back the pepper and garlic.
Step 8
Reduce the fire until minimum and cook the dish for 30 minutes.
Tips
We like to serve this dish with onion salad. Just slice onions into stripes add vinegar, salt, black pepper, and sugar.
Enjoy your meal!!
Between the garlic and onions, you probably don't have problems with vampires or nosy neighbours.
