Let's talk Small Alt CoinssteemCreated with Sketch.

As a small time investor, I realize there are two ways to play my portfolio.

I can take the approach of putting all of my money into one of the heavily traded, bigger coins out there and have under 5 shares, or even just a partial share.

Or I can go to the smaller coins. The ones that measure their bitcoin value by a Zero in front of the decimal place and then four or five more zeros before you ever see an actual number. Giving me more shares of that coin. A lot more pennies.

In the end, the purchase price value of image one, and image two are the same. But doesn't it FEEL more powerful to buy 1000 shares of SiaCoin than it does it buy 3.2 shares of Omise? But which one is going to work out better for the long term growth?

As a new investor, with about $100 USD invested, and MAYBE the capability to expand my portfolio by $25 every week or two, I need to figure out the ropes of these things. And I am sure a lot of other people do as well.

As you learn more, you can invest more in things you know about and actually believe in. I put 20% of my portfolio into Steem when I found this place, because it is a platform I feel like I can understand and get behind. But the rest.... Well it kind of looks like this:

Maybe I found a bullseye in there somewhere, but for the most part, it's just a scattered mess. Mostly I am doing this for fun, and am willing to take the risk of losing my buy in. But surely one can be educated on what is going to go up and down right? Someone out there has an idea. Realizing that I am by far not the only person looking for alt-coin advise, I am hoping that this post can illicit some comments about some good steem follows for those of us looking for people who know what they are talking about for learning and guidance.

In my brief (1 day) of being on steem, I have found a couple of people to follow that hopefully are leading me in the right direction, so I thought I would share them. None of them have promoted this post, or in any way know I am talking about them, or likely even that I am following them, so I am getting nothing from putting these names out there.

The first person I found who explained things in a way that made sense to me and has a series of videos letting us watch and learn how and what he trades. We might not be able to get in and out of the same coins at the same times as he is, but he is teaching a process that I think I might be able to at least somewhat mimic over time is @quickfingersluc. Admittedly, I have only watched his latest video so far, but I did find it extremely helpful and a couple of the coins he talks about are in that 0.0000 range that makes me feel good because I can buy 1000 of them.

@wealthguru may very well have been the first person whose posts I saw here on Steem that got me into the community. I was wading around the internet trying to find information on this whole cryptocurrency game and found their daily bitcoin report. There is useful information to be gleened there for sure.

@sportspodium This one isn't so much about advise as it is about the fact that I like sports, they are building a crypto based on sports, so that seems like a win win to me to follow and check out. I think one of the best things you can do in this whole game is find a niche that you understand and relate to and then find the crypto that cater to that niche and you are halfway to success.

So who do you follow? I follow a few others who post good advice, but their names didn't jump out at me in my following list, so this list is by no means complete for my crypto follows on day 1. Educate me, and hopefully others with your best list of follows for learning this crazy Crypto world.

And of course, we can all use more follows and upvotes. So if you haven't already done so, check out SteemFollower: https://steemfollower.com/?r=1668. It's not a bot follow/upvote process, it's a follower and upvote exchange, linking you to other people on Steem looking for new followers too. Not much to lose there, and hopefully some great follows to gain.

Of course upvotes and follows are appreciated, and I will do my best to refollow those who ask.

Thanks for reading! Have a great Friday!!

nice post, obviously upvoted when i say that. You might wanna check out netcoin as a coin that is small and is not heavily traded yet. it has a great POS and i also invested very little in it, but still 55k coins received.
If you are looking for good crypto updates, consider following me as i frequently provide good updates on that front. Regardless, hope your investments will pay off. Cheers!

Thanks @attalis! much appreciated. I will take a look at netcoin, although right now everything I have my money in is trading lower than what I bought in at, so going to have to work some magic to take up a position on anything else right now. I look forward to checking out your blog!
