Sometimes it's best to be told in the form of a story

Namaste,

I may have mentioned this before but I like to watch old movies, and that's pretty much, all I watch in regard to video entertainment. I use to love the heroic war movies but I’ve since realized they are, unfortunately, full of propaganda and untruths. Similarly, the cop and detective stories. Even back then they painted a picture that is skewed to deceive people into believing the role government plays is a good one. However, there were movies that had to entice the mind of the common man and woman to come to the theater. Back then if they tried to pass off propaganda as entertainment all the time, they’d have empty theaters. They had to speak to their sensibilities and common thoughts. I believe I’ve found one of those movies, that’s honest enough to be believable by the commoner and to correctly examine the real things people value.

In recent months, a question has come across my mind. It occurred to me when I was visiting some memories of my grandparents and relatives when I was young. The way they acted and the way they carried themselves. And how they viewed the world. I don’t see that any more… at least not regularly. I listen to a lot of people and although I hear some wonderful things about what’s in store for the future. I don’t hear the mindset that I did as a child. Now, I imagine it could be dismissed as the naive mind of a child, ignorant to the real ways of the world. However, what if it isn’t? What if there used to be a profound difference? A difference in people’s attitudes across the board. That could be relied upon to make things happen and for the most part delivered a much more pleasant wholesome life? What if that mindset has been worn down over the years by the constant, never ending conditioning. From the “institutions”, from the “experts”, from the media and most certainly from the marketing and advertising?

Let me give you an opportunity to examine this. I found this gem of a movie that I think may just demonstrate what that could have looked like. Please take the time to watch and ask yourself… do you see it? Do you see the recognition of what was valuable they had? Do you see how that could be diminished and almost entirely obscured or even ridiculed?

I’m asking you to consider it and also to compare what you see in this movie to the typical movie of our era, even the exceptional movie of today and see if you can spot any differences or draw different conclusions about the characters or their understandings and mindsets. I think this movies speaks volumes!

Humor me… watch this movie.

Good recommendation! I just finished it. Old black and white films like that are a nice change of pace sometimes.

I was really surprised to see cloud seeding, especially as such a main aspect of the storyline!

One thing that really jumped out at me about their attitudes, was when they were about to lose the paper. Instead of fighting, blaming each other, and separating, they stayed calm, appreciated each other even more, and found a solution to the problem! I think it shows that people were mentally tougher back then, and they also had stronger families.

Thanks for sharing, Mike. Good "picture show". :)
