Creatures on the Moutain above Anarchapulco

Living the life in Anarchapulco! All this freedom to do whatever we want... well, it attracts allot of us spontaneous organizers... like nature and it's creatures.

Being that I'm originally from the Midwest of the USSA, I'm not always prepared but something happens just about everyday. A unique creature pops out in one form or another and says "Hello!". We were warned by a good friend who has lived here most of his life... "your going to have allot of creatures to deal with up there!" We had no idea!

Needless to say, I started taking pictures to show people... "You're not going to believe what I saw yesterday!" And prove to them, hey... I wasn't bullshitting! I saw what @lily-da-vine was doing with her photo shoots and thought... before I lose these, I should probably do something with them... it might be interesting to someone. We shall see...

When we first arrived my lovely partner was afraid of any bug and at the sight of the first scorpion was ready to pack it in and head to a hotel. However, after living surrounded by jungle on three sides for a few years, she had come to a peaceful resolution with the jungle and it's creatures.

We still see our share of scorpions, spiders, snakes and a cornucopia of bugs as well as birds, butterflies and other creatures drawn to the the freedom of the wild.

In a sign of things to come, the first day we moved in we found a baby owl on the balcony of our master bedroom. I'm still looking for that photo... it will have to be part of a future post. But in the meantime, here's a few of the regular and odd visitors that we run across each day living on the mountain.

The first is a five foot long iguana that likes to sun itself on one of the rocks just below the house.

This guy popped up after a rain storm. We're about 1000 feet up and although we have a beautiful view of the Pacific, we're not very close to the water. So to see a crab was one of those double takes... WTF is a crab doing up here??? Since then we've seen a few more... so I guess there's mountain crabs...

This bug is one of those I have no idea on... maybe someone knows. It's about four inches in length and we he extends those long legs or antenna... about ten inches wide, so it's something you just can't NOT notice...

One thing we see a great deal of is butterflies and what's even more exciting is no two are similar. I'm sorry for the selection this go round, I'll try to spend a little more time catching photos of them... I could probably just do that full time... chasing butterflies. If I only had the time!

This photo doesn't do this guy justice. In real life the green almost glows. Typically, we don't even pay attention to geckos, they're all over and do a fair job of eating the insects that congregate around the lights at night but this guy was just too green to not notice.

This moth (or is it something else?) has some really cool colors incorporated into quite a unique pattern. It is quite spectacular.

The final creature today is one that popped up as I was having a rather difficult day. On the way back from the kitchen I came within a couple of feet before noticing. Another WTF??!!

I wasn't satisfied with the first shot, so I drew the curtain up and took this shot from the other side. WHoa! It certainly makes him look much scarier.

Well, I'll leave it there. I hope this was interesting and enjoyable! Maybe a bit scary for some.

Honestly, even the scary ones seem to give us our space. If we give them a little, they move on without incident. Despite all the interactions we live a pretty agreeable life with each other. Gotta love anarchy!
