Steem Marketing - Thinking Out Loud

I have a pretty obsessive personality. When I get into something. I REALLY get into it. I want to understand it inside and out. I think about it all the time. That thing for me right now, and for the last close to two years, has been Steem.

These days I think a lot about marketing. I have the technical skills to make marketing material, but it's a pretty big creative challenge to take what we have here and turn it into a narrative that is digestible and compelling. Something short and sweet that would peak someone's interest. Up until now, I've been mostly thinking about how to explain what Steem is, but I've been thinking about a different approach lately.

Just focusing on the problems that Steem solves, and communicating that. I've been swirling some of these ideas in my head, but I've yet to write them down, so this post is a sort of live brainstorm. Feel free to add your ideas in the comments and let me know what you think about whatever I come up with here.

  • Censorship
Censorship is impossible on Steem because no one person, company, or entity is in control of the platform. It's decentralized. It's an open, permissionless platform that anyone can use, post to, develop and transact on without anyone else in the world having the power to stop them.

  • The Solution for Content Creators
Steem has the most sophisticated tools for allowing content creators to connect directly with their audience and supporters without the need of a third party middleman taking a cut. On Steem users support other users directly and frictionlessly, with exclusive features only possible with the most bleeding edge technological and financial innovations.

  • Ownership
On Steem, you are and always will be the beneficiary of your data and content. In this new attention economy born out of the internet no other platform empowers you more to have sovereignty over your content and data.

  • The Solution for Entrepreneurship
Steem opens doors for entrepreneurs. Empowering them to create applications and business models that until now have either been impossible or impractical. By design Steem is global, neutral, permissionless, and censorship resistant. You can reach your customers no matter where they are in the world. The platform doesn't care who or where they are. Your application doesn't have to be approved by a third party, and your users are protected from censorship.

  • The Solution for Investors
Steem offers a variety of solutions for investors to let their investment work for them. Steem gives you state of the art tools and features that allow you to use your stake to empower developers, fund decentralized platform improvements, curate content creators, lease your stake, and many, many other opportunities to maximize your return on investment.

Alright, that's all I've got so far. What do you all think? I purposely left out normal lingo like cryptocurrency and blockchain. Especially technical details like 3 second feeless transactions. While I definitely think these things are awesome, they're only good selling points to a small demographic. I'm thinking more generic.

My thinking about blockchain image :)

Anyway, let me know your thoughts in the comments and if you have any ideas or improvements on these. I'm really winging it on the Entrepreneur and Investor sections. Does that seem accurate to you devs and investor types? What would you add?

See you all in the next post, I'll keep brainstorming.

Some good ideas here.

I guess the next step is turning these into simple bite-size easy to deliver messages, and then finding the right changes to deliver them with the limited resources available...
