The Virtue of Reading Istighfar

We are of course very familiar with one of the famous figures, namely imam Ahmad bin Hambal. Imam Ahmad bin Hambal is a mashab figure among ahlul sunnah wal jama'ah. And he often carried out activities of recitation, the study of religious sciences which were very extraordinary.

On one occasion in his old age, he wanted to take a walk out of the city. Then, because it was late, Imam Ahmad bin Hambal stopped at a mosque, the purpose of which was to rest there. But what happened ? Because there was no person there who knew the figure of him, Imam Ahmad ​​bin Hambal , people then led him out of the mosque, so he would not rest in the mosque, because he was not known to anyone. But the intention behind that is actually, Imam Ahmad ​​bin Hambal didn't ask for permission, didn't tell the administrators of the mosque there, because he didn't want it to be known that actually he was Ahmad bin Hambal.

So what happens then ?

It turns out, as he was being led out by the people at the mosque, a bread seller passed. The bread trader saw Ahmad bin Hambali, so the bread trader approached Imam Ahmad bin Hambal and asked "O my lord, where are you going?"

Imam Ahmad bin Hambal answered "I was taking a walk from the house out of the city, then I got tired in this place, I rested for a while, wanted to sleep in this mosque, but I was not allowed."

Finally, what happened?

A bread seller offered this to Imam Ahmad bin Hambal. "O, sir, if you are willing and willing to spend the night in my humble house, please come with me."

Long story short, finally Imam Ahmad bin Hambal followed the steps of the bread seller, went to his house and rested in his house, unwinding after he was tired from walking all day.

As the night grew late, Ahmad bin Hambal, a great cleric, lurked, and accompanied this bread trader.

What happened, it turned out that this artisan selling bread was, when at night making bread. Every time he makes bread, stirs the bread, stirs the ingredients to make the bread, "Astaqfirullahaladzim" always comes out of his mouth.

The sentence istiqfar which is very extraordinary, always comes out. Not just once, but every time stirring, every cutting, every frying and every time cooking this bread, he always says the phrase "Astaqfirullahaladzim."

Then after making the bread was finished, approached then Imam Ahmad bin Hambal approached the bread trader. Then he asked the bread seller, "Really you are very extraordinary o. How you were when making this bread for so long, I heard you every time saying istiqfar, astaqfirullahaladzim. So happy you, because truly all your requests, all your prayers will be accepted by Allah SWT."

Finally, the bread seller answered Imam Ahmad bin Hambal "O sir, all my requests have been fulfilled by Allah. All my prayers have been granted by Allah, only one has not come true."

Then Imam Ahmad bin Hambal asked "What has not been achieved?"

The bread trader answered "I actually want one day, I am destined by Allah to be able to meet and come face to face with a great scholar, the teacher of my dreams."

"Who's that ?" said Imam Ahmad bin Hambal?"

The bread seller then spontaneously said his name.

"I want to meet a very noble teacher, a great scholar, his name Imam Ahmad bin Hambal."

What then happened?

He Imam Ahmad bin Hambal, then patted the bread trader on the shoulder while saying.

"O sir, tonight Allah has sent me to this place, so that you with the power of istiqfar that you read every night, you will then be met with me."

That's a piece of wisdom, how when we ask for forgiveness from Allah a lot, make Istiqfar to Allah, for all the mistakes we have made, then all the difficult paths that have become dreams in our life will soon be given a way to you.

Everything that is a problem within us, everything that is an obstacle, a challenge in our life, Allah will give us an easy way, an easy solution with the power of istiqfar.

That's why the Messenger of Allah gave an example, he was only a prophet, an apostle, in a day and a night he never made Istiqfar less than 75 times.

So, for us, let us follow the example of the Messenger of Allah, let us follow the example of Imam Ahmad bin Hambal's story with this bread trader, who then gave everything, all his dreams, all his desires, ease to Allah SWT.

Say astaqfirullahaladzim, at least astaqfirullah. More perfect, astaqfirullahaladzim allazi lailahaillahualkhaiyul kaiyum waatubuilaikh. And what is even more perfect if we want in our lives to memorize and practice sayyidul istiqfar.

May Allah SWT give us guidance, because without guidance from Allah, it feels difficult for us to be istiqomah convey and say our istiqfar to Allah SWT. Hope it is useful.
