Aceh Varieties of Rambutan
This is the Aceh rambutan, the superior variety of Ulee Madon which is famous for its deliciousness. In addition to a larger size than other types of rambutan, Aceh rambutan also has a sweet taste.
The Aceh rambutan tree itself, including plants that are easy to grow on tropical land, such as in the yard or even in urban areas. In the Ulee Madon market, the price of a bunch of Aceh rambutan, 10 pieces reaches the price of 7,500 rupiah, up to 10,000 rupiah. The price is slightly more expensive than other types.
Ulee Madon has been transformed into one of the centers for producing Aceh rambutan fruit.
Not only growing Aceh rambutan, Ulee Madon residents also grow longan, binjai and Javanese rambutan, with both sweet and sour flavors.
It all started when Ulee Madon residents got rambutan seeds when they won a volleyball tournament in Krueng Mane a few years ago. Residents then plant it around the house, until it grows big and bears fruit. Until finally it became the center of rambutan fruit in Ulee Madon.
Residents now feel the benefits of planting rambutan trees, especially entering the harvest like today. Besides being able to be consumed alone, the harvest can be sold.
Residents hope that there will be counseling from related parties, as well as cultivation and utilization in order to produce maximum fruit, considering that so far residents only pick when the harvest season arrives.
