Another birthday another year older

It was my birthday today and like most birthdays I had to work . I only remember ever having one birthday off since I started working, so I’m used to that. Whilst I make a big deal over others birthdays I never have really cared for my own.

I spend the day hoping people won’t remember. Today was no exception and I managed to make it to dinner before I saw someone face to face that said happy birthday to me . I probably could have avoided this but I always like to have Chinese food for dinner on my birthday and we had decided to go out with family and friends so I already knew it was coming.

Chinese food you might say? But your not Chinese, why? My family did not have a lot of money growing up. Going out usually meant going to the pub or club and back when I was younger clubs and pub had normally a Chinese restaurant. At least that’s what I remember. So special occasions, outside of Christmas and Easter that we’re normally spent with family, were normally celebrated at the local pub or club. I guess it kind of stuck because it is still my favourite food.

I also learnt to use chopsticks when I was young I don’t remember why but one day, probably a birthday, I sat the whole night and taught myself to use chopsticks. For some reason I just wanted to know how to use them and sat there for hours learning. I still to this day use chopsticks when eating Chinese food and get glances from the tables around me as I don’t know anyone who uses chopsticks besides me and I guess they are surprised I can use them.

All in all it was a great day spent with family and friends. Oh and don’t forget work. Oh well no day is ever perfect is it lol.
