No to Yellow!

“Green — GO!
Yellow — Safe stop or proceed with Precaution
Red — STOP!”

When I was five years old, this was a constant reminder from my brother whenever we go out for a bike.

“Green — GO!
Yellow — Safe stop or proceed with Precaution
Red — STOP!”

One by one, me and my classmates would recite this (at the top of our lungs ) “For you to remember it better”, my teacher would say.

In the Philippines, where I grew up there are three (3) lights for our traffic signals; green, yellow and red.

Fast forward, I went in a country where they only have traffic signals that has only two (2) lights.

Green and Red.

I have not put much attention to it not until the last night of my stay, while I was walking on my own. I realized that I actually prefer that there were only two lights. No yellow. Yellow light makes me jitter, makes me anxious. It always felt like a trap for me.

So with resemblance to choices we make, I preferred traffic lights with only two lights. It’s like two sides with clear but different motives or agenda. You can Green = Go or Red = Stop. But Yellow? it is complicated, safe, and Neutral.

Often times I don’t like Neutrality because like how it sounds, it is Hypocrisy!

Neutrality in a world like this, is just the same as accepting the way things are right now. (War, abuse, famine,etc.)
Neutral is being Safe.
Neutral implies tolerance regardless how disagreeable things might be.
Neutral is saving your *ss.
Neutrality is trying to please everyone.
Neutrality only helps the oppressor never the victim, just like what Elie Wiesel said.

It is impossible to be Neutral when everybody is moving in different direction. So its either you’re a Green— you Go or Red — you Stop. But don't be a Yellow.

there is no neutral ground. If you’re not on my side, you’re the enemy. If you’re not helping you’re just making things worst.

Sorry for blabbering again! Really, I just wanted to talk ‘bout traffic lights. And just like the usual I ended pondering life. Thank you for keeping up with me.
