While I'm Waiting...

@s0u1 is watching the F1 qualifying session and so, while I wait for him to watch that, I'll tell you a little about what I've got in store for me this week.

Tomorrow I'll be studying hard because on Monday, I'm going off to Silverstone Race Track to take part in a driver's Day with Ginetta - a British Race Car Manufacturer.

The itinerary looks like it's going to be pretty much full-on for most of the day. Trev has been told we can get to Silverstone (around 80 or 90 minutes away) for 11:30 if we like, but if we get there earlier - 7:30 on - we have a better chance of getting on the track for longer (perhaps).

What's involved:

A Driver Improvement Session (I think this is my Birthday Present)

Driving the Ginetta G40 - a 135BHP 1.8L 5 speed manual car - weighing less than half of my Mustang at 800kg

It's going to be a helluva lot different to the luxury cars I've been used to driving over the last couple of years. No power steering, no assisted braking, full roll cage but no soundproofing (On the track, you can hear the screams).

I'm led to believe it's a hell of a good driver's car.

It will also have full data logging GPS - all data used between sessions to help provide feedback and improvement for the driver (me).

I have a LOT to learn about the different style of driving. I'm not used to this kind of competition driving.

This is about learning the car and some techniques. My naturally assertive nature won't come into play on this session because it's learning rather than racing.
