SteemFest Publishing goal Update!

in #steemfest9 years ago

This is the book Trev (@s0u1) has been working on to get printed in time for SteemFest.

I have an update! The books should be printed and ready in time for us to either courier over to Lisbon or for us to pack our cases light with clothes and heavy with books!

The book, with stories written almost exclusively on Steemit last year was released in time for Halloween in ebook-only format.

I decided to have the book printed so I could take it to SteemFest – I’m not planning on selling the books, they will be given as a gift, so there will be a limited number available of this first print.

If you’re going to SteemFest and would like a book, please shout up!

If you would like a book and you’re not going to SteemFest, do not despair. If there are any left, I’ll find out the P&P (Post and Packaging) charges and will accept Steem/SBD to send it across to you.

The files were uploaded last night and the website for the printer said the expected date for completion was 30th October – cutting it a bit fine.

Then, HORROR! The website had problems and the files hadn’t uploaded. The Printer phoned Trev and he came home from work, put the files on a USB stick and took it back to dropbox it over to the printer.

Further news, the books will be ready for the 27th, all being well and so we have a little more ‘wiggle-room’.

Trev started our small Indie Publishing house in 2010 to put my work out into the marketplace. In less than 6 weeks, he learned how to format a book, he learned the ways of creating a cover and making it print-ready and we had a hardback edition of Deadlier Than The Male… in my hands.

Since then, we’ve worked on lots of wonderful books, worked with loads of really talented people and helped them to polish their work to the highest standards and get them published too.

It’s not a lucrative business in terms of money, but in terms of friendships gained and job satisfaction, you can’t beat it!

Unfortunately, you can’t live on job satisfaction… the mortgage won’t accept it as payment and you can’t eat it, so I’ve taken a job as Editor for another Indie Publishing house and they help me pay my way in our household whilst I’m building up this account here, on Steemit.com

Since publishing my first full novel, I’ve published two more in that series, a set of seven short stories and this anthology.

Most of my books are available in hardback, paperback and eBook. I have to have a look at getting them out in audiobook format next.

The short stories and collections have only been available in eBook before, but with Penny Dreadfuls, I’m making a change.

Ash’s story, created and serialised here on Steemit.com will also be published and printed under the GingernutBooks banner and everything I have written will be for sale here on Steemit soon!

I’ve worked as Editor in Chief for a successful online magazine and worked in movies.

I have my own entries on IMDB and have been Producer, Writer, Location Scout (to mention just a few things) I’ve also ‘acted’ in a couple of the films.

This writing lark has opened up an astonishing world of eclectic experiences and Trev and I are determined to try them all out if we can!

See you at SteemFest!

2 weeks to go and we fly out!

If you’re interested in buying any of my books, contact me in chat and I’d be glad to accept Steem/SBD for the books and P&P.

This is a fantastic update. You are my inspiration, @michelle.gent! Sometimes we need to expand our horizons and try things outside of our comfort zones to succeed. You are a great example of this. Congratulations!

Thank you! That's so kind of you to say. I think the secret is to do what you want, take no notice of the self-appointed critiques (harm none) but have fun!

A very good up date!

Love it - you are the most awesome woman I know! xox

I don't see it... ;)

Thank you <3
