Anonymous Message to Greta
Have you ever heard about the now infamous internet message board 4chan? It’s oftentimes referred to as the ****hole of the internet and sincerely for good reasons. In this inhospitable place on the world wide web a group of hacktivists came together to form one of the most influential movements of the 21st century. Anonymous. Their mantra is simple but somehow scary and solemn as if it came out of an 80s horror story. We are Anonymous! We are Legion! We do not forgive! We do not forget! Expect us. Their protests are not tied to the cyberspace alone and sometimes invade the streets with signs and covered faces by masks to remain anonymous. The group associated itself with numerous protest hacks targeting everything from governments to private corporations and even pseudo-religious groups like the church of Scientology. Anonymous is certainly an important movement using the tools of the 20th century to fight censorship and abuse of power by world leaders their roots hide deep in the early 2000s internet culture. In the last few months, the world has seen an uprising of another movement that hides under the mask of Greta Thunberg and her concerns for climate change. The 16-year-old Swedish girl allegedly started the movement last summer when she skipped school on Friday to sit outside the Swedish parliament to protest climate change. From then on Thunberg became an international phenomenon mostly dude to the millions of retweets and likes and the crazy press attention from leftist media. On the 1st of October anonymous posted on their website an article explaining the group's ideas in regards to Greta’s movements and finally for the first time someone dared to highlight the hypocrisy of the policies she has been trying to push. Greta is the mask for a socialist agenda that uses climate change as an excuse to make the world a fake utopia. The Green New Deal is the proof of this green socialism dualism. As anonymous highlights people should be aware of climate change and it’s possible effects on human lives but Greta seems to be just another great publicity stunt by some corporations. There is one big difference between Anonymous and Thunberg’s movement, that is a clear view of values and ideals. Sorry Greta but being angry at Trump is not enough to change the world.
