I'm back again to give this another try, but my text keeps on disappearing!
Many months ago, I started on this platform, and then I just kind of got too overwhelmed by the amount that needs to be learned in order to make this work, as well as being distracted by other things. I'm still having the same problem using my speech dictation system here that I had from the very beginning which is that when I dictate text into the story box, if I don't move my cursor immediately by hand, all the text just disappears, and I need to start all over again. I find this rather frustrating, so I thought I would just mention it again that I'm still having the problem.
I never saw the awards board before, but that's probably because I never got far enough along working with this website. In any event, I'm still confused as ever about what this is all about, but I'm going to give it another shot. I really learn better having a manual, or a book that having to read page after page online of text. Is there anything like a printed manual, or book about steemit ? I really don't know where to begin, or in this case begin again.
Another problem I'm having is finding appropriate keywords for my posts. For example, I wrote a post about an Alzheimer's research game, and I wanted to tag it with the keyword Alzheimer's disease, but it wouldn't accept that word, so I tried just Alzheimer's, and it wouldn't accept that word either because apparently it doesn't like words that have apostrophes, or something like that, so then I just settled on alzheimer which isn't exactly a useful keyword by itself. If anyone has any suggestions about finding acceptable keywords to use here, please let me know.
Also, I know that you're probably going to tell me that I should go to chat, and asked my questions there. I use a speech dictation system which doesn't really work well for me and chat, and also, I don't really know who to ask questions of in chat. If you have any suggestions about who are the best people to talk to, please let me know. Thanks for reading, and have a nice day.
I almost forgot, one really important question that I need to ask is what is the difference between up voting, and re-steaming something, and which one is it more important to do each day?
If I had an investor, I'd love to develop an application that connected your speech dictation system with steemit :-) Really!
I can only imagine how difficult it must be to write an article like that. I'm suffering already with my keyboard, so to you it must be even more frustrating sometimes...
How may I help you? My second account @steemaniacs just replied as well, trying to give you some tips on how to improve your doings here, and I upvoted your article with my stronger account @surfermarly. However, if you have any further questions or need some support, just drop me message in one of my articles or reach out at steemit.chat.
One for all and all for one :-)
Have a great time, Michael!
To get around your difficulties with your dictation system. Could you not just craft your post in another software, like word, and then just copy paste the text into the steemit editor only for final publication. This way you won't end up losing your posts at least.
I don't use the steemit editor for anything at all, I just write my posts using markdown commands for formatting.
It does help if I copy and paste from a word processor, but even then sometimes the text disappears if I don't manually move the cursor within a few seconds of pasting the text. For some reason, the system won't recognize that text has been entered unless the cursor is moved manually at least once, at least that is my experience. I don't have that same problem when I use Facebook, or Twitter.
Interestingly, when I opened your reply to reply to it., I saw an old version of a reply that I entered, but never sent, so apparently somehow it saved my text even though I never sent it. Suffice it to say, that the text editor here behaves in weird ways that I don't understand.
It saddens me that you struggle so much to post here. I truly hope the developers can do something to help you out!
