What to see in Galicia

in #spain6 years ago

1.-Historical helmet of Tui

Opposite Portugal, on the other side of the river Mino, you have Tui, a town that throughout history was one of the seven capitals of the Kingdom of Galicia.

It is well worth a stroll through its narrow streets inside the old walled enclosure, with its stone houses, as well as visiting its cathedral, a mixture of Romanesque and Gothic styles.

2. - Mount Santa Tecla

To visit the south of Galicia and not to climb the Monte de Santa Tecla is to leave the trip.

From the top of this mountain you will have spectacular panoramic views of the mouth of the river Mino, right on the border with Portugal. But in this mountain you will also be able to see interesting corners such as the Celtic castro or the hermitage.

3. - Parador of Bayonne

The Parador de Bayona is much more than a hotel establishment.

It is a fortified enclosure that contains very interesting corners, with excellent panoramic views of the entire coast.

I advise you to at least visit it for a coffee on its pleasant terrace after walking along its walls.

4. - Cies Islands in Vigo

It is a natural paradise located at the exit of the Ría de Vigo, which you will arrive in a fast boat and where you will enjoy beaches and landscapes.

I visited the Cíes Islands years ago, and on my recent trip I couldn't do it again, as it was in the middle of August, I didn't know how to buy the ticket beforehand.

I didn't know there was a daily limit of 2,200 visitors, and for this reason there were no places until days later.

Therefore, I advise you to make the necessary online purchase of tickets for the Cies Islands before your trip, as well as with the greatest possible anticipation if you are going to visit them on weekends, summer or high tourist flow dates.

Pazo Quiñones de León in Vigo, Galicia

5. - Pazo Quiñones de Leon in Vigo

Until we arrived at Pazo Quinones I didn't know that in the city of Vigo you can visit this excellent sample of a historic mansion in Galicia. The Pazo Quinones de Leon is currently one of the venues of the Museo de la Ciudad, and on your visit you will visit an exhibition of artistic works, and stroll through its pleasant garden, which combines French and English styles.

6. Viewpoint of the Castro Park in Vigo

The best panoramic views of Vigo and its estuary are from the viewpoint of the Castro Park.

It is an ancient fortification located on top of Monte del Castro, which rises above the old town.
