BE HOLY IN YOUR LIFE
It is true that one must sanctify himself for the sake of the children, but this does not suggest that one does it only for the
children’s sake alone.
The Lord Jesus was holy, and He sanctified Himself for the disciples’ sake. Even before He sanctified Himself for the
sake of His disciples, He already was holy.
Likewise, parents who sanctify themselves for the children’s sake should at all times walk with God and also do his commandment.
However zealous you may appear, your children will quickly see through you if you are not really zealous. You may deceive yourself but not them. How easily they penetrate your pretension if you are
careful only before them and not when you are alone. For this reason, you must not only sanctify yourself before your children and for their sake, but you must also be truly holy and separated from the world. You must walk with God as Enoch of old did.
Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters” (Gen. 5:21-22). We do not know anything about Enoch before he was sixty-five years old, but
after he begat Methuselah we know he walked with God three hundred years before he was taken up.
I pray may God give us the power and ability to sanctify ourselves not only before our children but also holy before God.
