What Are You Doing Right?-3.jpg

Hi Steemit,

Today was a slow and easy day filled with hanging out and enjoying my kids. Ahhh cuddles. Life is good. Here are some things I did right today.

One

I watched tv with my kids. Ive been working on Super Hero Time Travel Stories with my kids.. It's one of those cliche filled shows where you can guess what lines are going to be said well ahead of when they are spoken. Still, it has drama, and action, and my kids like it. And I like knowing about what my kids like.

Two

I went on a walk with my daughters. Its easy enough to drive to the grocery story because nobody likes to carry groceries. But today, I made a commitment to a very specific list, and we walked. There were threatening clouds and we even got a few big fat drops of cold water on us, but it was still a nice walk. I was even rewarded for my efforts with avocados on sale. Which leads me too...

Three

I made delicious guacamole. You know you do something right when you yourself admit to making "the best" of it. I make the best guacamole, but these perfectly ripe, buttery avocados didn't need much anything to be perfect.

Thank you for stopping by my blog today. Please share with me what you did right today :)

I do like avocados @metzli ! but I do not make guacamole ... I just like plain avocado sandwiches :)

So... here's what I did right (yesterday) : a lot of 'safe' driving in the rain ... I took the dog out for a walk when it was a bit drier ; I did my daily drawing (it was the word 'valve' ! very tricky ...) and I did a steemit post...

Ahhh, doesn’t that feel good?

I have not heard of Daily drawing before, but I guess there’s a Daily type of challenge for any type of skill you want to learn. Valve’s ... This gives me an idea to do a daily drawing challenge in my home school. Have each kid choose a sketch to master and work in it Daily.

Checking out your post now :)

That's a great idea @metzli.
Last October @mivstar told me about Inktober. I drew something everyday, but then November came and I missed having the word prompts during for each day; I had sort of lost my drawing purpose.

@tinygalaxy gave me words that she came up with and I continued for a couple of months.... until @cryptojelly joined me in my drawing quest....

We have been making drawing / doodles / collages for at least four months now and then we just send them to each other using messenger... I have sometimes included the products of my endeavours on my blog...

At the moment our words are :
cloud
string
weave
hair
sharp
eyelashes
You're more than welcome to join us... in the meantime I'm looking forward to the next Inktober

I would LOVE to join you!

My drawing is ... childlike at best. By that I don’t mean “full of wonder” I mean more like a clumsy 3 year old who can’t hold the pencil correctly.

By the time my oldest was 4 (ok three) she could draw better than me. It was embarrassing. I was teaching at that time so during my “free period” I would go into the art teachers room and trade skills with the students. I learned how to draw cubes. I learned to measure our dots to make my circles better. And I learned how to draw a princess castle. I think it’s time to draw something besides a princess castle.

I've just uploaded my cloud drawing @metzli :).... We don't worry about artistic quality : we enjoy the process of creating something and learning - I often learn about topics... yesterday it was 'valve' (!). And practice makes better...

I let myself sleep this morning because I needed it.
I stopped to cuddle with my kids before doing my morning meditation
I put cocoa powder in my coffee. Yum!

Cuddles and meditation and cocoa/coffee make for a great day.

Your Daily meditation was done right too. Sometimes we don’t five ourselves credit for the “done right” things we do Daily. Meditation for you, journaling for me, but oh, we notice when we don’t have our daily zen! (At least me kids do. Haha).

Thank you for sharing with me.

Absolutely true. The meditation is how I wake up. I'm a beast without it. I do a daily gratitude list too, but I can usually do that a little later and still be a human.

I've been working on changing my parenting to be more positive and interestingly, one of the things they say to focus on is what you did right today. Your post was a perfect reminder! So here's my list:

  1. I let wrestled with 3 kids on my bed today and we all laughed almost to tears! (ages 8, 5 & 2)

2.By doing #1, I gave my 11 yr old space to work on her latest passion, teaching herself guitar, without interruptions from her younger siblings.

  1. Made a spatchcock chicken under a blanket of bacon for dinner and it was amazing!! (Just forgot to take photos of the finished recipe for the post until it was already half eaten!)

Yes!

Hmmm. Your comment brought up so many points... you’ve inspired me to write an article. Thank you. It should be out by Sat...

I miss guacamole...

You life must be filled with sadness.

😂😂😂

I’m just kidding, but I can’t imagine going to long without avocados 🥑 mmmmm

Thanks for visiting :)

I gave myself a break after I ran my car into a wall! Just wrote a post about it ;-) It's one of those days, but that's ok! I'm still here :-) And I want to eat your guac!

Mmmmm. Guacamole. Maybe I’ll make more.

I’m making vegan burritos for dinner.

I’m going to read your post now, but only to support you as a writer and not because I’m super nosy about the crash...
