MORAL STORY FOR COMPREHENSION Grade 4

One Sunday a dirty, beggar walked into a church.

He went and sat in the front row of the church.

The people looked at him funny and tried not to look at him.

Everyone was a bit disgusted at this man who did not belong in the house of the Lord because of his appearance.

He sat and looked at everyone and he was very quiet.

The church was packed that day, for they were getting a new minister and they really wanted to impress him.

They had food outside, and they were going to have lunch with the new minister as it was important to them to be seen, and known by him.

After a while someone got up and asked him to please go and sit at the back of the church.

He did not say a word, got up and walked to the back seat.

While he was walking, all the people were looking at him funny, and spoke to one another wondering where he came from and what he was doing there.

Then the service began, and the head of the leaders of the church went to the pulpit.

He talked a bit and said how glad they were that they had got a new minister.

They had been waiting for one a long time and it was nice to know that they will have someone preaching to them again as they were all taking turns to read something from the bible, and the whole church was getting upset as they wanted a proper minister.

They called the new minister to the front and the beggar at the back came up and walked to the pulpit.

He then said "Today I see a lot of people in church, but not any Christians"

He told them that God would one day say.

"When I was hungry you fed me, and when I was thirsty you gave me something to drink."

The people will say when did we do this? Jesus will say "To every person who did something for someone else will have done it for me."

The minister said "I see a large amount  of people here, and that is not what we need in church. We need Christians and he told them to go home and think about this until the following week.
