Autistic children

Today I am writing about an autistic child that the parents wanted to enrol in our school.

After trying to talk to him, I realised that something was very wrong. He did not look at me and it seemed as if he did not hear me.

The parents really wanted him to learn, but it was just not possible.

I phoned the psychologist and said I am sending parents with a child to you,I don’t know them but they very badly want their child to learn.

He phoned me back and said, you can do nothing for him as he is autistic. I will find a school where they can take him.

This child has always haunted me, for this was someone that I could not help. To me helping children is the most important thing that I can do for them.

Yesterday I was surfing the net, and found this video. And it felt like now I know that I did the perfect thing for this child 20 years ago.

I do not know what happened but after seeing this video I felt a lot of comfort and peace.
