Aristotle

Sitting here on my rock thinking about the homework of a historical figure I realise that the only man to start with is Aristotle he was brilliant and started the first school as we know it. It is called Lyceum it was the first western school.

Today I am writing about the first person who started schools.

He is the one who taught Alexander the Great.

We will get to that later but first Aristotle was born instagira, Chalcidice which if approximately 55 km east of Thessalonica.  In 348 B.C.

His father was a physician and he was very inspired by his father’s scientific work but he really was not interested in medicine.

His father being the physician of King Amyntas of Macedon made it possible for him to spend time in the monarchy.

When Aristotle was 18 years old he moved to Athens to be educated by Plato. He had an academy there.  Aritotle stayed there for twenty years and then moved  friend Hermius of Atarneus in Asia with another friend Xenocrates. They moved to the island Lesbos where they did a lot of research on zoology.

They say he left Athens after Plato’s death for he did not agree with the nephew of Plato, who took over control of Plato’s academy.

After the death of his friend Hermias, Philip of Macedon invited him to teach his son Alexander.

Here he became the tutor of two more children namely Cassander and Ptollemy they were both two future kings.

He later returned to Athens where he started his own school named Lyceum. Here he taught various courses to children at his school.

After Alexanders death which some people were sure Aristotle had something to do with,he fled to Clalsis his mother’s estate.

Aristotle was believed to write or put together his thoughts during 335-325 BC

All this was not preserved as it was meant for the children to learn from and unfortunately most of it does not exist anymore. Some pieces did survive it was saved by his students.

Some of the work include Eudemus(on the soul) on philosophy as well as poetics, Politics, Physics De Aanima and Nicomachean Ethics  are considered to be some of the most important works he did.

He was also known for many other things like his Contribution to philosophy

Contributions to Science and many more but he got married to Pythias who was the niece of his friend Hermenias they had a daughter and after his wife’s death he married again and his wife gave him a son that he named Nicodemus.

He was one of the best known and worked very hard in all subjects. Today life is different because of him, he did teach a lot and here is what is said about him after his death.
